The Nonsense Thread

crashed alien space craft found on Mars by NASA rover! (I just skim-read the article ;)):
NASA keeps quiet on 'historic' announcement

Did we read the same article? I don't know what the video said as it didn't load for me and just said msn. (butterfly picture) nz (line down) video but I read the whole article (something I'm not very famous for;)) and it just said that NASA has an annoucement to make but it hasn't been released what it is about and that SAM is looking for compounds like Nitrogen and Oxygen and for signs of Extinct microbial life.

By the way, what's Obama doing saying that we're going to Mars by 2030? He's not going to be predsident then. How does he know anyway? Maybe it has something to do with the mystery announcement. Besides, it seems half the world thinks we're all going to be dead by Christmas:rolleyes:.

Maybe they found some bacteria. But those guys probably get excited when they get a slightly better image of a rock.

Do you mean living or dead bacteria. If it's dead I thought they already discovered fossil bacteria. If it's alive, then that's a revolutionary discovery as it would prove, 100%, that live exists off of Earth. That would be very, very exciting.

I don't think that even dead bacteria has ever been found in outer space that did not originate on earth. I could be wrong, but to the best of my knowledge, there has been no incontrovertible proof of the existence of life in the universe anywhere other than earth. Scientists have claimed a lot over the years, but the bacteria has usually been found to be earthly in origin.

Mexico Name Change: Felipe Calderon Tries To Change Country Name From United Mexican States
I guess Mexico wants to change its name. I never even knew the official name for the country was the United Mexican States. This name change does not effect me what so ever and I doubt it will effect much of anyone except the government of Mexico. Who here knew Mexico wasn't the country's correct name?

I had no idea. I thought they might have been the Republic of Mexico or something.

Are there any other surprising official country names you can think of? Libya used to be "Great Socialist People's Libyan Arab Jamahiriya".

I believe fossil bacteria was found on Mars along with the residue of long gone water. I think scientists have proven that some astroids have carried bacteria on them that died when entering Earth's atmosphere. We've already found water (in the form of ice) elsewhere in the galaxy along with bacterial life so I don't see where the debate that we're alone stands. Even if we are alone, there's enough spectacular wildlife on our own planet to keep us occupied and amazed. I say let's focus on preserving them first.

So how'd everyones Thanksgiving go? My went good except I feel all fat now. I've been jogging in place whenever I walk somewhere.:D It was the best tasting Thanksgiving diner I've had in years however.

I know I've posted this here and there on a couple of the threads randomly but I thought I'd post the link to my website;
https://sites.google.com/site/werrtydryytucf/
It really is a log starting on June 9, 2011 at the Bronx Zoo and lists every zoo/aquarium I've visited from then to now and all the species I've seen. I know BeardsleyZooFan and Smokeycat have been on it but that's all I know for ZooChattians visiting.

Only 24 more days (according to a friend I haven't actually counted yet) until the world is going to end for the 20th time. I think this is the 3rd or 4th time since I was born (maybe more). In Study Hall, me and a couple of my friends were joking about how it might happen. I suggested either the Yellowstone Caldera or that volcano in the Canary Islands, another suggested a meteor, and one said that, within the next 24 days, we are going to destroy all the world's trees and plants and then run out of Oxygen. Anyone who is worried just remeber, how'd an ancient civilization predict the end of the world when they couldn't even predict the arrival of the Spanish? Also, couldn't they have just run out of spare rock to build their calenders?

I have a calendar on my wall that ends on December 31st. The world does not end on December 31st, but my calendar does. Sometimes I don't get around to buying a new calendar until February or March. :D

You should get the massive Australian Geographic calendar, its very impressive. And cheap if you wait until February/March (plus you won't waste money if the world does end in December).

December 21, 2012. My brother knows a kid who skipped school the other day to prepare. What's kind of a dark joke is that that day is my friend's birthday!! I have to say I'm still a little anxious...

Australian Geographic Art Calendar is great! I get one every year - brilliant paintings.

On a completely different topic, I splurged a couple hundred dollars yesterday for a collectible, one of only 7000 produced. It's 29cm high.

Yes - Prof. Calculus' Moonrocket from Destination Moon and Explorers on the Moon.

And now - something a friend shared on Facebook:

Turn the sound up a bit if you can't hear it hitting the phone.
