I was tempted to post that song on the Tuna thread, but thought it might escalate things. Its such a great song, as are most of the other Avenue Q numbers. I haven't seen the show, was it awesome?
Well, it wasn't applicable on the tuna thread because no one was being racist - except maybe you for wanting to nuke people.

How on earth am I supposed to know every un-PC American term? Until Avenue Q I thought 'oriental' was the polite and accurate term to use, and until I pointed out the culture in the Caribbean, you guys probably thought it was ok to refer to everyone of African descent as 'black'!
I'll let you guys (especially Americans) in on a little secret: non-Caucasians are pretty thick skinned when it comes to cultural sensitivity by virtue of being non-Caucasian. Shhhh! It's actually a bit insensitive to think they get offended when no offence is meant.
Funny story: there was a Vietnamese guy in class named 'Gook'. Now I thought he was winding me up the first time I heard his name. But, it turned out that his parents did indeed name him that name - clearly
they should have attended a cultural sensitivity class, because
I felt uncomfortable calling him by his actual name.

(The war ended about 15 years before he was born.) Now come on, surely you guys see the humour in that? And this is why I asked if the actual people are offended by a term as compared to just Americans because of guilt.
Yeah Avenue Q was cool. Fascinatingly, you don't really notice the puppeteers, because you are so focused on the puppets. It was a funny musical.
