Why do I feel like The Simpsons was cancelled years ago and replaced with another, less entertaining show? I wish they had called it quits years ago. Yes I know it is the same series but it doesn't feel that way.

I wasn't aware that Simpsons were still making new episodes. :D I think we just grew up. Simpsons, to me, was an adult sitcom cartoon whose audience was really just kids and teens. :D
 
I agree with you Wensleydale. Me and my mate in work often reminisce about Simpsons episodes that were funny, however they are all just about 10 years old.
There are many classic episodes, my fav would have to be the chilli eating contest when Homer ate Chief Wiggums super hot chilli and went on a crazy trip and followed a fox.
 
the early series (plural) used to be almost consistently funny. Now they are very hit and miss, with the funny episodes being heavily outnumbered by the desperate ones.
 
I haven't even watched in the past few years. In my experience the series started going downhill around 2000ish. The show started out witty and interesting (even in my so called adulthood I feel this way about the early episodes, I don't feel like an adult yet thanks to this stupid economic climate) and now just seems pathetic. I sort of noticed the same thing going on with American Dad but thankfully they pulled the plug before things could get really bad. My props go out to Bill Watterson for doing the same with Calvin and Hobbes.

My favorite episode is a tie between "Viva Ned Flanders" and the one where Mr Burns opens the casino and goes nuts a la Howard Hughes.

Actually I can't decide, I keep changing my mind.

On a zoo note, remember the Simpsons when Homer ended up dressed as a Panda in an enclosure and 'presented' himself to the male panda? Very funny.

I see on the news that the games in Glasgow are sweltering through a heatwave. I wonder how will the poor contestants will cope in temperatures as high as.... um, 26 degrees...? Oh, the humanity! :D

My favourite episode will always be the one where Homer gets a lobster and calls it Pinchy.
 
You know Pinchy wouldn't have grown nearly as fast in real life as he did in the episode? But cartoons don't have to make sense.
