The only collection in the UK that you can see a.....

When I went to Hayle in May I saw diamond firetails and hooded parakeets and on the same day I saw purple grenadiers at Newquay.

I know the Catbird and Mynah were moved onto other collections, unsure about the Munia. Zootierliste for Birdworld is extremely out of date. Some of the birds listed on there haven't been there for years.
this isn't directed at you specifically, but quite often there are Zoochatters who know all about Zootierliste and yet come on here commenting how such-and-such a collection they are familiar with has out of date listings.

Why not make a current list and either post it here or send it to one of the Zootierliste editors (there are several members on Zoochat who are editors) so that the outdated info can be rectified?

I feel like I should comment, because I have complained :p.

I did that for Tropical World (excluding fish, as I didn't have time/ couldn't be bothered), and I hope to do that for Lotherton Hall Bird Garden, it's just when I visit I don't generally have time. :)

I plead guilty to this. I am not a natural list maker and the idea of setting off with a printout to check off the species would just take the fun out of a zoo visit for me. Plus there is the problem of the animals you don't see, unless you can interrogate an unfortunate member of staff, you don't know if those animals have gone or are just off-show - and I wouldn't want to do that either :(

If anyone would like, I can make a list of all on show bird species from Birdworld as of my visit in July.

I have put complete lists on here in the past for people to change the zootierliste and the response was very sparse to say the least.

The quick and easy way to get a up to date list especially for people who like to take photographs is to take photographs of the exhibit signage as this in MOST collections is the closest you/me/we will get to having a complete species list (mind you some collections can't be bothered to remove/replace or even put new signage for new/changed species we can't be blamed for this but the collections can).

It'd be interesting to see updated lists for this thread - so much has changed just in the last six years! To start off what hopefully becomes a long list:

All Things Wild:
- Golden jackal

Birmingham (National) Sea Life Centre:
- Sea otter

Weymouth Sea Life:
- Little penguin
- Weedy seadragon

Wolds Wildlife Park:
- Indian leopard

Shouldn't that be "Indian" leopard? :p

Not sure if Fen Bell Inn is open again or not, but if it isn't them Hoo Farm have the only bobcat on display in the country.

Also Exmoor have the only fanaloka and ratel on display.

Ratel are not on display.

However, Exmoor also have the only Sand Cats in the UK.

A couple of other recentish arrivals that have sprung to mind -

Hayle - Collared falconet

Hamerton - Barking owl, wombat, tiger quoll, Syrian brown bear, dingo, white-bearded palm civet, hopping mouse, barramundi, squirrel glider, ringtail possum... (And I know there's others as well that I'm forgetting!)

Welsh Owl Garden - Striped weasel

All Things Wild - Cuban hutia (according to ztl)

I think Hamerton sent some Hopping mice somewhere else.
Some you missed - greater grison, Johnson's cassowary, oncilla, fat sand rat, Malayan Tiger, both aardwolf

Not sure if it would be counted in this thread but you can also see Bobcats at Cat Survival Trust in Welwyn (You have to pay a yearly membership fee of approx £10 and can only visit by guided tour).
