The Piebald Canada Lynx & Rientroduction Program

Did she actually provide you with any source?

At first she explained that she didn’t have the URL to the source, however, in another response she wrote to me after the fact, she claimed it was found. I myself never got the link, but apparently she does have it. Obviously, the only solid evidence I have is the other pictures that were provided. It was also explained that she’s had 5 total computers since the 1990’s and many of which have gone through crashes and breaks, so some of her sources and data have been lost or not backed up.

Another update, after relooking at some sources she claims the photo was actually from 2005. I have more pictures she provided me, I’ll post them below.

Looks like we both sent her an e-mail, then! I received the same photos, alongside expanded versions of the three previous images. In her e-mail, Sarah recalled getting the images from U.S. government sources, with the usage license classing them as "photos taken by a government official performing their duties."

She mentions the cat as having been captured and re-released, and that not much was made of the individual's unusual markings at the time. And while she confirmed it all took place in Colorado and related to conservation, there was no mention of the specific, aforementioned reintroduction project.

Now that I have a little more context, and the full images, I'm inclined to try and get in touch with the right folks in Colorado to get more information. The mystery and adventure continues!

Whoops, guess we did! You’re much better at summarizing than me, but both of us practically got the same response from her. Funny coincidence, I actually received an email from Sarah by accident about our Johnny the jaguar, it was directed to someone else so I wonder if it was in response to your email or if someone else asked about him. Either way, good luck!

You flatter me! :') But you did a fine job too, plus it seems we both got somewhat different tidbits of information (e.g. she never gave me an exact year for the lynx photos). And given the timing, I wouldn't be surprised if that other response was for me, I do wonder what she thinks of the sudden combined interest haha.
