The pygmy hog population in Barnadi Wildlife Sanctuary may be extinct

Rediscovered in 1971 in Assam, the population in Barnadi Wildlife Sanctuary may have gone extinct. This would only leave a single population left, in the Manas Wildlife Sanctuary.

I'm pretty sure Jeremy Mallinson's book "Travels in Search of Endangered Species" (1989) had a photo in it of a pigmy hog baby (hoglet?) being held in the hand. It was very tiny!

(Mallinson of course being from the Jersey Zoo)

currently there's a photo of a trophy-shot bongo on that Google search link. Not sure why that should be (!) so sorry to anyone who looks at it and is horribly mortified.
