Wild Ireland is probably the closest zoo or sanctuary to me and I feel it gives off that small zoo charm. It isn’t overly large and is pretty new only being a few years old,but it is expanding pretty regularly, but if you take your time you could very well spend an hour and a half there or even more.
The park houses animals native or once native to Ireland including Eurasian Brown Bears,Barbary Macaques,European Grey Wolves etc. and it even has some invasive species for educational purposes like American Mink. Many are rescues but some are part of conservation breeding programs,so it almost feels like a mix of a zoo and a sanctuary. Its small size and naturalistic design really makes it a special place and it has this cozy vibe to it because of how small it is and I think it has had a great educational and economical benefit for the local area as well
