A very intriguing read...and thanks for posting the link! The proposal for $5 million is mainly for non-animal related improvements and it is disappointing from a visitor's perspective that a new penguin exhibit is the only proposed animal attraction to be added to Maryland Zoo. The numerous behind-the-scenes renovations (drainage, barns, filtration system, perimeter fence, etc) are vital to the zoo, but those sort of things will not halt the decline in attendance. I thought that in recent years there was a demand for an expanded elephant yard?
