The Tufted ground squirrel

those are some cool photos. I only know this squirrel from the painting in the Borneo mammal field guide. It looks pretty neat in the painting and I'd thought it would have been good to see one, but I had no idea how awesome it actually looks in real life! Now I am saddened that I haven't seen one in the flesh!

I also liked the almost throw-away line in the article about "lead author, 15-year-old Emily Meijaard."

This story, in various forms, mostly focussing on the enormous tail and deer predation aspects has been floating around for a wee while recently - I keep seeing that enormous tail on Facebook and thinking there should be a horror movie starring this creature. :D
