Any other fans here?

Probably my favorite show(even if it didn't film about a 90 minute drive from my house and I spend summer weekends watching filming/trying to pick up spoilers)

Of course most people probably look at it as say Zombies that sucks? Well to tell the truth I did when it first came out. But I got into it. But at its heart is essentially a Western (a southern if you will considering its setting or rural Georgia) with the indians of course the zombies. The original showrunner was Frank Darabont (Green Mile and many other Steven king stuff) so the show is essentially a modern Southern Gothic piece that is mainly about life mortality and other questions concerning those things. And at the the end of the day its still zombie killing and basically my fantasy world - no government no responsibilities, just you and your gun. Yes its Libertarian high fantasy as well.

Zombie storylines are boring to me. They always follow the same pattern. Something bad happens. Mayhem and gore. Zombies appear on the scene. More mayhem and gore. Survivors seek refuge. Zombies eventually find a way through the defenses. Gorefest. One or two people barely escape to fight another day or everyone gets wiped out.

what about Warm Bodies? I haven't seen it but it looks interesting.

in fairness the Zombies are just a plot device in the Walking dead like I said its more a classic western than an endless zombie flick. Its more about the group dynamic among the people (ie the title refers to the survivors not the Walkers) Its more Lord of the Flies meets Gunsmoke set in rural Georgia.

Its interesting that with the economy bad that a show like TWD is basically updated Southern Gothic literature and most of its music is new Blues/Folk which go great with the depressing themes. Southern Gothic and blues/folk of course came of age in the Great Depression so similar mindsets.

This is the song that was the outro for last nights episode. Very good new bluesy music.

??? Thank god you don't. Its a book series about a girl who falls in love with a vampire. Its the lit of choice for tween girls in the US and is a butt of a lot of internet jokes because it sucks.

Watching the Twilight Series is worse than being forced to watch archival footage of the Holocaust.

I think warm bodies look like a pretty different show to watch, only cos i love zombie movies so I am a bit biased here. Essentially, the cheesier the zombie show the better, I like walking dead too.

pretty funny commercial to promote the show here during superbowl

SuperBowl 2013 Commercial - Zombie Apocalyse - AMC - The Walking Dead - Time Warner - Ad - YouTube

dunno how to embed videos here.. how do you guys do it?

Anyway, resident evil is also one of my favourites although the series is getting a little tired.

I just watched the original trailer for Walking Dead. It doesn't look too bad after all. If you like guns, I can see how you would like this very much.

The beginning seems to be ripped right out of '28 Days Later' where he wakes up from the hospital to a post-apocalyptic zombie-infested world.

I feel my Constitutional rights were violated by being forced to watch it.

I feel your pain.

Twilight successfully completed the pussification of vampires. It started with An Interview With The Vampire, where the vampires are shown to be sympathetic creatures capable of showing love and affection. Then came Buffy the Vampire Slayer, where Angel the Vampire was a whining wuss pining for unfulfilled love. And then came Twilight, where vamps sparkle in the sunlight instead of dying like they're supposed to. Not to mention the dreadful . . . I better stop before I puke. Yes, the Twilight movies are THAT bad.

I watched the pilot for this yesterday. It was not too bad, so we intend to watch at least one more episode before we decide on whether we follow this series. I did dream of zombies last night though....

makes a change from what you usually dream about I suppose....
