On June 27th, the zoo announced that a (1.0) generic giraffe was born on June 24th.

On July 16th, the zoo announced the giraffe's name, Jabari.

On February 1st, the park officially announced its expansion, aptly titled The Wild Camping Resort. The site is 117 acres, less than a mile away from the zoo, and will contain a "high-end camping resort, water park, luxury animal encounter bungalows, miniature golf course, fishing pond, restaurants, and a wedding and events center". This will cost ~$10,000,000 and is expected to be completed by 2024.

On July 19th, the zoo announced that they abandoned the project, as the local town halted them at every point during the project, which lead to the point where they weren't interested in continuing.

Visited the New South America section at the Wild and you can definitely see how far they have come with their exhibits. For an independent facility Jeff Taylor really tries to make his exhibits more natural and themed than other facilities like it.

While some older exhibits need updating and you can argue the theming around the exhibits is more impressive, you cannot deny it beats the old wire and wood approach. There's only 4 new species but they moved the Saki and Squirrel monkeys into new outdoor exhibits as well as the macaws. Eventually the Jaguars will move once their exhibit is finished and it will feature underwater views.

Overall it's a great addition and really transports you to a South American temple. This is a great follow up to the renovated Giraffe yard and small African animal exhibits as well as the penguin exhibit. Hopefully they keep updating the older exhibits to match what they have done recently.

I just looked through your photos of the exhibit, and I'm not really seeing this "South American temple" vibe you are describing. There's nothing "South American" about habitats devoid of any vegetation other than invasive European grasses. These exhibits seem like a case of a zoo putting way too much effort into "theming" and not enough into building good quality homes for animals.

I was looking through some google photos on google and I came across a primate species

I was having a hard time identifying whether it is a tonkean macaque, a booted macaque, or something else, I was also wondering if this place still has them or they don't because they all passed away or they gave them to another facility

Those are booted, I believe. Are you sure it's from The Wild Animal Park in NY? If it is, it's old; none of their exhibits have siding like that. They haven't had this species in the several years I've been visiting and I haven't seen anything about them adding it, and the owner does lots of videos about stuff going on there.

Edit: I was wrong, they're tonkean. They last had the species in 2020.

Yeah they replaced them with the Javan Langurs that were once located where the White-Handed gibbons are now. I don't know if they still have them off scene or not though.

I've never seen a Javan Gibbon here and I'm not sure what happened to the Macaques, I just know it's been a few years since they were last displayed.

On October 27th, it was reported that the zoo started planning/construction on several different projects of what they are calling "The Haven". One of those is the Big Cat Bungalows, which will be a unique Airbnb that will overlook a generic tiger or African lion exhibit and will open in May 2024. There will also be the Wedding & Event Center overlooking African animal exhibits and 15 treehouses that will overlook a giraffe exhibit. The center and the treehouses are scheduled to complete construction in summer/autumn 2024.
