Visited Wild Place yesterday (10/04/23). I'm glad that I went there, I haven't been went to there for very long time. Really enjoyed the trip, walked around the zoo multiple times. Brought my camera with me, took many pictures for fun.
I got there at some minutes before it opens, it seems like the entrance area have been developed with the ostrich exhibit on the left. Went to countryard for a coffee when it opens before exploring the zoo.
Walked up to the giraffe house and saw one of the giraffes standing outside of the house, other giraffe just came out of nowhere, walking toward to the house and all three giraffes were inside. Stayed in the giraffe house for a while, watched them eating their breakfast, no sights of zebras or elands at that time.
Went to the cheetah exhibit, the three cheetahs came out of the house, walking steadily. Two of them laid down in the sun afterward, other one was walking around the spacious exhibit.
Saw the geladas emerged from their house and grazing grasses. It was amazing to see the geladas again.
Finally, went to the Bear Wood for very first time. It's so stunning, the exhibits are so HUGE with natural woodland habitat, never seen something like this before, loved the elevated wooden paths, saw the lynx sleeping up the tree. Saw the wolverine, it was very active, running around the exhibit. I hoped to see the kits, unfortunately I didn't get to see the kits. Saw the four bears in their spacious woodland exhibit, probably one of the best bear exhibit ever I seen. Two of them were on trees, resting on them, one of them climbed down the tree and play fighting with other bear were amazing. Wolves came from the back, it's my first time seeing wolves and bears living together in a zoo, they trotted around the exhibit, two of them checked and sneaked on the sleeping bear. It's amazing to see exhibits with their natural woodland habitat.
Exited the Bear Wood and saw the geladas again, two of them were grooming each other right next to viewing area, a close encounter. Witnessed gelada baring their teeth toward to other gelada because the other gelada won't keep still while the other one was grooming on him.
Walked around the zoo to see the lemurs, ring-tailed lemurs were inside the house, black and white ruffed lemurs were outside of their exhibit. Alaotran Gentle Lemur was inside of black and white ruffed lemur's house.
Went to see the red river hogs, and finally saw an eland emerged from their house. No sights of red river hogs, there were few keepers in their house, it seems like the hogs were inside.
Walled Garden is pretty nice, meerkats were chilling in the sun, few of them were digging under the logs. Saw the village weavers, I didn't know that they weren't holding grey crowned crane anymore. The weavers were very active, flying around the exhibit and collecting materials. Saw the other birds: the hornbills and pigeon.
Saw the ostrich, it was drinking water. The exhibit looks lovely, I wonder why they got common ostrich instead of Red-Necked ostrich that was planned in phase 1?
Decided to explore the zoo again, finally saw the elands and zebras. Zebras and giraffes were inside the giraffe house, elands were resting at their paddock. Cheetahs were strolling around the enclosure, after that, they were in the other small paddock, eating the meats.
Went back to the Bear Wood again, the lynx was sleeping in the bush which was pretty hard to see the lynx, the wolverine is still active, climbed up the tree for short and climbed down the tree. The bears were inside the house, the wolves were trotting around.
Finally, went to the back of the zoo to check if the hogs have been emerged, two of them were out. I checked out the old wolf exhibit, there are signs saying they're preparing for a new animals, any ideas on what animals will be moved in the old wolf exhibit?
I finished the trip, looked around the shop for a bit and got out, saw a board about future Bristol zoo with an illustration of black rhinoceros enclosure with the giraffes at the back, it looks pretty good.
Definitely will go back to there again, really enjoyed it there so much.
