The Wilds The Wilds - Park News

I lucked out the second time I went to the Wilds last year. The first time, the dholes hid in the back of their enclosure; the second time they were out in the open, lounging about under a pair of trees.

The two cheetahs cubs have received their names: Pipi (Swahili for candy) and Roho (Swahili for ghost). Fitting for their October 31st birthday.

Philadelphia zoo's 3 male cheetahs Micha, Speedy and Rasi recently moved to The Wilds where they will meet potential mates and give them the opportunity to possibly father cubs of their own.

Nothing is planned, this is all speculation at this point but I would guess timber or grey is most likely, although I personally would love to see maned! Any yes, at the carnivore center.

Any updated news yet on this topic???

I haven't heard any new news or rumors on adding wolves but I also have not been back to the Wilds since then. Sorry.

I finally went to the Wilds for the first time today. Here are a few updates on the park.

1) The Wilds now has only 1.1 Dholes. One of the males has gone to San Diego so hopefully they will see some breeding soon if the Toronto dholes aren't related to the San Diego ones.

2) The Park recently welcomed 3 baby Scimitar Horned Oryx, 10 American Bison, 2 Persian Onager, and 1 Asian Wild Horse.

3) They have a new male Indian Rhino - I'm not sure who but they should restart their breeding program soon.

I'll post pictures later.

Where you able to see the Asian Wild Horses swimming across the lake? One of my best memories.

Next Year They like to open a Building dedicated to Eastern Hellbenders. The Building Will have a Breeding Facility and Tank exhibits for people to see.

Seems a lot of places are releasing news about Hellbenders this year. Though they're all Eastern Hellbenders, don't the Ozark Hellbenders deserve some love as well? Or are there none in captivity?

I thought Saint Louis was pretty involved with Ozark Hellbenders. Aren't they close to their range?
