The Zoo Family

This is a very cheesy 80s Australian TV show about a family who live in Melbourne Zoo. You can actually get some good views of the zoo circa 1984.

Kylie Minogue also made a one-off appearance in an episode.

I used to watch that all the time!! Pretty much the only thing I remember about it though was one scene filmed with the monkey walkway enclosures as a backdrop and I thought it was amazing (on the screen it basically looked like the monkeys were living free).

I remember this one too. Didn't last for too long, unfortunately.

:p

That was quite fun to watch. But definitely very cheesy. Looks like they made just one season, in 1985, but it had 26 episodes - quite a big number.

Is the baby antelope in part one of "seal song" a blackbuck?

Its funny seeing Rebecca Gibney looking so young, and also funny that her character is called "Julie", which is her character's name on Packed to the Rafters, which is where I know her from.

Interesting this thread was resurrected now - the actor Peter Curtin (who played David Mitchell, the father and vet) died just a few days ago at age 70.
