Eutamias
One species

Taxonomic note: formerly (and still by various authors) placed under Tamias as a subgenus.

Siberian Chipmunk Eutamias sibiricus
Normally nine subspecies are recognised (asiaticus, lineatus, okadae, ordinalis, orientalis, pallasi, senescens, sibiricus, umbrosus), but more recently this has been reduced to only three: barberi in Korea (previously part of E. s. orientalis), senescens in central China, and sibiricus throughout the rest of the range. The Korean subspecies may be separable as a full species.

There are surprisingly few photos of this commonly-kept species in the Zoochat galleries, and none are labelled to subspecies (Zootierliste has them down as non-subspecific status). Various papers, e.g. https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/pdf/10.1111/mam.12117 and https://www.researchgate.net/public...1769_Rodentia_Sciuridae_established_in_France state that the animals traded throughout Europe are the South Korean subspecies barberi, and that "All the available photos of introduced individuals show the morphological features of this subspecies".

Spermophilus
Fourteen species, three of which are represented in the Zoochat galleries.

Taxonomic note 1: the genera Callospermophilus (3 spp), Ictidomys (3 spp), Notocitellus (2 spp), Otospermophilus (3 spp), Poliocitellus (1 sp), Urocitellus (13 spp), and Xerospermophilus (4 spp) were formerly treated as subgenera of Spermophilus. There may be discrepancies as to which species are placed in which (sub)genera. I have followed the taxonomy of this paper: Generic Revision in the Holarctic Ground Squirrel Genus Spermophilus

Taxonomic note 2: the name Citellus was formerly used for this genus (inclusive of all the subgenera named above).

European Ground Squirrel or European Souslik Spermophilus citellus
Four subspecies is usual, currently: citellus, gradojevici, istricus, martinoi. Further subspecies were formerly also recognised: karamani and macedonicus (both now synonymised with gradojevici), laskarevi (now in istricus), and balcanicus and thracius (both now in martinoi).

Asia Minor Ground Squirrel Spermophilus xanthoprymnus
Monotypic, although the subspecies gelengius has previously been recognised.

Photo by @devilfish at Antalya Zoo, Turkey
[Note that the most reliable way to distinguish S. xanthoprymnus from S. taurensis in living animals is the black-tipped tail of the latter species. Unfortunately the tail on the photographed specimen is hairless, and hence the identification as xanthoprymnus is best described as "the most probable" one]
