I was at a zoo recently and I over heard a woman say that she really like the zoo because it had plenty of toilets. The mind boggles, if that's what she looks for in a day out why didn't she just go to a motorway service station?
I've got to say, I admit to doing this when I was younger, but this is very annoying now.People trying to pet birds in walk through aviaries or tropical halls
I might change that if I were you. I've known who he is for as long as I can remember, but I mentioned him once on this site and no one knew who I was talking about. This man is very famous to zoo nerds.
In Columbus, in a themed African Safari tent there are several photos of a man in a zookeeper's outfit and a safari hat. This man is very famous to zoo nerds. Referring to the photo, I heard someone say, "Oh that's the guy that got killed by a stingray, yeah I miss him." The man in the photos is Jack Hanna.

He has a lot of conservation work, and has had several TV shows. He makes a lot of the important decisions at the Columbus Zoo. He worked at Busch Gardens Tampa in the past, as well. Think of him as an Ohio Steve Irwin.I've known of him for most of life, but I honestly have no idea why I know of him. I genuinely have no idea what he's ever done apart from bringing animals on talk shows.

Actually I would use the money to expand and update my local zooFolks, there's one easy way for all of You who clamour about misbehaving, stupid, obnoxious...visitors: get rich and build Your own private zoo like Sheikh Saoud Bin Mohammed Bin Ali Al Thani...
Otherwise, ignore them, educate them and object them...And if that doesn't work, have them thrown out.
Amen people don't control their children. They think it's ok to bang on Windows and climb the fences. II'm old school and was brought up to respect elders and all others including. Animals.I know this thread is old, but I want to comment because I have one example that really made me actually cry... so I was at the Turtle Back Zoo a while ago, (of course I am there a lot but this scene was a while ago), and I was at the Gray Wolf Exhibit, one of my favirotes at the zoo. And this kid started banging on the glass and SCREAMING at the wolves. And I tried telling him to be quiet the wolves have sensitive hearing, BUT I WAS THE ONE GETTING YELLED AT BY HIS MOTHER. His mother goes "excuse me that's my child your talking to!" Like okay lady if you are aware that is your child then make your child be quiet for peeps sake. This is a zoo where you can't bang on the windows or scream at the animals. And so that day I left crying cause I was upset that she yelled at me but not her child who was the one causing disturbance to the animals.
This one is from the Milwaukee zoo, it really triggered me.
"Hey look, a Jaguarundi!"
It was just a Jaguar.
Maybe he was talking to a person named Rundy. This one really surprises me. Small credit though towards the person for even knowing the name ''jaguarundi'' most people I know don't even know what that is.
