I've come across much worse than that. On Flickr I've seen photos of wild partridges in India, oystercatchers, an avocet, and even a scarlet ibis all identified as kiwi. At Taronga other visitors passing by thought the long-beaked echidna was a kiwi. In New Zealand weka are very commonly mistaken for kiwi (which is understandable for tourists, although many 100% refuse to believe they aren't kiwi when they are corrected), but I have also come across such unlikely birds as pukeko and thrushes being called kiwi. My favourite was a guy from Nigeria I think (maybe Somalia; I forget) who was in NZ to study English. He caught a kiwi in his garden and took it to his language-school in a box to show the class. It was a hedgehog.I think I can top that: I met someone a couple of weeks ago who thought that a Pheasant Coucal (up on a branch) was a Kiwi.
My dad called the De brazza's monkeys "Ayatollah monkeys". LOLThis didn't irritate me, but was still funny and I thought I would share. It was around the holiday season at Lincoln Park Zoo and I was in the primate house. A little girl went up to the De brazza's monkey (Cercopithecus neglectus) exhibit and yelled, "Look its Santa's monkey!"
They are still annoying to listen to as some of the nonsense they spew can actually have consequences towards a zoo's reputation or conservation work.Anti-zoo people and anti-caps. I mean technically it isn't really in the zoo but they do occasionally show up (had to take care of one that got on my Twitter earlier)
Exactly! This is why I despise those zealots; Barcelona Zoo's public image is in the shitter because of those liars! They are still annoying to listen to as some of the nonsense they spew can actually have consequences towards a zoo's reputation or conservation work.
It is a shame that they decide to tar all good zoos with the same brush as almost all of these zoos are getting involved in groundbreaking work to help species in captivity and the wild only for some nut job to just come along and ruin it.Exactly! This is why I despise those zealots; Barcelona Zoo's public image is in the shitter because of those liars!

What was said about zoo Barcelona that gave them a negative reputation? It is a shame that they decide to tar all good zoos with the same brush as almost all of these zoos are getting involved in groundbreaking work to help species in captivity and the wild only for some nut job to just come along and ruin it.
...such as? PETA is a vile and fraudulent organisation. Publicity and profit are more important to them that the well-being of animals and humans. The more people are aware of this, the better.I mean I agree with peta on quite a few things
What I meant is that I agree on some of their topics such as how bad roadside zoos are, however every thing they say is extreme, and they need to learn where to draw the line. Just because I agree on a few of the things they say doesn't mean I like them. Honestly I hate them, and they need to learn to shut up. But as an animal lover, I also hate Circuses and roadside zoos. I don't know if any of that made sense, but everything they say about credited zoos is terrible. Maybe my point would be explained more on the original comment...such as? PETA is a vile and fraudulent organisation. Publicity and profit are more important to them that the well-being of animals and humans. The more people are aware of this, the better.
Alright you convinced me. I'm sorry for anything about peta I said that was positive, screw them!It bugs me when people believe that animals should be just released from zoos to go live in the wild when unless these animals have gone through intense training to hone their natural instincts to hunt, forage, seek shelter, etc the animals would just be condemned to a slow and cruel death because they would not be able to adapt.
On the subject of PETA,the amount of crap that comes out of their mouths is more than a hippo's backside, considering they run kill shelters and euthanise plenty of animals that are surrendered to them. There was even a case in Virginia where they broke into a property, stole the family chihuahua and euthanised it while the only thing that they did was leave a fruit basket on the porch.
I wish I was making that up.
They do that for every zooThey are a truely a pathetic organisation with the amount of crap that they pull.I was once reading reviews on Chester's Facebook page and one woman was posting PETA articles to say why the zoo is bad and insulting anyone with counter arguments,if anyone knows the kind of work that Chester do,you will know it is nothing more than spectacular.
Another colossal pet peeve of mine is the wilful breeding of white/hybrid tigers and passing them off as endangered species.Considering that the wild populations are dropping quickly, there is no need to breed these animals.
Same goes with ligers, tigons, etc. it's all ridiculous but if I got the opportunity to see a white tiger I would take it.They are a truely a pathetic organisation with the amount of crap that they pull.I was once reading reviews on Chester's Facebook page and one woman was posting PETA articles to say why the zoo is bad and insulting anyone with counter arguments,if anyone knows the kind of work that Chester do,you will know it is nothing more than spectacular.

Another thing she posted was a photo from the Simpsons which stated "Your favourite animals in prison" or something like that, not really something I want to remember. They do that for every zoo![]()
Don't tar them all with the same brush; as in all other husbandries, there are good ones and bad ones. And it's kind of ironic that many of those who demonize circuses are often employing training techniques and practices developed by circuses when working with their pets.I also hate Circuses and roadside zoos.
Well, that was quick...Alright you convinced me. I'm sorry for anything about peta I said that was positive, screw them!
