Things That Irritate You in Life

In New Zealand, people have long dealt with tailgaters by saying if they don’t like them going the speed limit, they can go 10-20km/hr under the speed limit (or slam on the brakes to make them think fast). As a country, we’re probably just coming to the end of being able to get away with that kind of counter-antagonism, which would escalate to who knows what overseas.

The positive about driving in New Zealand, is everyone let’s you in when you’re trying to pull off a side road into the main stream of traffic. If the first car doesn’t let you out, the second car will.

Yes that’s what I’ve done before slow down a bit , they normally get the hint and back off

Virtual Events:

Because of Covid, so many events have become virtual - from public events to work functions (i.e. virtual leaving drinks for someone who’s leaving).

I’m of the opinion that if you can’t undertake the event in its usual format, why bother? I can’t imagine any virtual event matching the expectations one would have for the real thing.

Just postpone the event or can it.

I wholeheartedly agree with you on this!

Because it still brings in some money, and it still gives people jobs to do. Zoos have had a ton of success with virtual stuff, for instance, and many are continuing to do it.

Yeah that’s fair enough.

I’ll never be a fan of virtual leaving drinks/works functions though. At least irl if you don’t like the person leaving, you can talk to the other people there and there’s food. :p

I don't work with other people so I don't have any experience with that part :) I hate zoom/being on camera in general.

TV etc being out of sync. I generally watch stuff on my PC and noticed a few weeks back that live BBC shows (news etc) are often out of sync, but though it must be the iPlayer. While staying in hotels last week, I noticed that it is the same on television too. More than irritating.

Most things. One of many is people who stand talking the middle of the hallways, for all zoochatters who still go to school, I'll assume that you can understand where I'm coming from.

It’ll be fun they said” - this was stale and repetitive from the start.

10-15 years later, it’s even more irritating. Let it die.

Having to click YouTube videos a million times for them to play:

What’s up with this? It used to be, you clicked it once and it’d play. Now it takes a minimum of two clicks (usually more).

That's on your browser or something. I don't have that problem at all.

No bother with youtube here either.

However, with BBC iPlayer, sometimes after signing in first, you need to click to say you have a licence, click to play without PG lock thing and then click to close a trailer for another show.

I too, don't have any issues. Must be a problem with your browser or computer. I've always only had to click once to access a video.

I’ve done an update and all good now. Thanks everyone.

If only it were as easy to bring back the dislikes. Telling me a video has 5K likes tells me nothing; telling me a video has 5K likes and 130K dislikes tells me it’s not worth watching.

There are browser extensions that allow you to see dislikes.

I find it so bizarre that they hide dislikes. I don't see what it achieves. They claim its to help the mental health of creators but they can still see the dislikes???

I’ve found the likes to dislikes ratio useful in identifying click bait videos which are rife on YouTube, so it’s good to see both.

Also, the goal of any creator is to post content people like, so what’s wrong with some honest feedback?

I know there’s been discussion around a dislike button on ZooChat, but I’m not sure it’d work. It’d be great for when someone said something stupid; but if we got dislikes for advising animals had died, people would either stop reporting it or dress it up as a positive.

My guess is that it was removed so that companies stopped getting mad when they made and announcement people didn't like and then people dislike-bombed their videos. Look at some videos from companies like Nintendo and Meta with that browser extension and you can see why those companies complained to Google.

I think a dislike button on ZC would just discourage discussion when one user disagrees with another.

Another thing, when medications, vitamins, and supplements that you have relied on for a long time lose their efficacy. Also, when medications have uncomfortable or even dangerous side effects...
