Things That Irritate You in Life

Sinusitis and the associated headaches.

People who loudly talk on their phones while on public transport.

Loud people on public transport in general.
Sinusitis is the worst -- I was once hospitalized for sphenoid sinusitis. I hope your symptoms improve soon!

Tinnitus, self inflicted I'm afraid, too much loud music
Recently bought myself some ear protection after I came out of a concert with horrific ringing, realised I should probably start wearing that!

Hasn't spotted me from listening pretty loudly with headphones, something I should probably stop doing...

Many Brazilian users, mysef included, are becoming increasingly annoyed with the fact blackbuck are gradually becoming the only antelope in Brazilian zoos. They have no conservation value and take valuable space which could be used by endangered species such as Addra and dorcas gazelle, as well as Nile lechwe (recently imported from Czechia).

I hate what people think of Taylor Swift. Literally every opinion she has makes world headlines and if she is attending a major event on TV, the cameras consistently zoom in to her like she already doesn’t get enough attention. She clearly does.

I’ve seen many zoo enthusiasts in the Japanese zoo community who only highlight the positive aspects of the zoos they visit, completely avoiding any mention of negative points. They even go so far as to frame obviously cramped enclosures in a forcedly positive light, as if to present themselves as broad-minded and superior enthusiasts. It’s incredibly frustrating.

AI. AI as a whole is just straight up stupid. I do like the use of AI for some things, like Google searching and recommended YouTube videos to watch but now it is mostly just used as a way of cheating and half-assing things just to get stuff done quicker. Like for example AI images are now used in place of animals on major news pages, which is stupid because it costs literally nothing to copyright something or provide a source in most cases. Also, the images and answers it gives you are very frequently vastly different from what the thing actually is. For example, AI thinks that lions are solid black and elephants are blue, which is extremely incorrect and uses it as a COVER PHOTO for a nature website. The increasing use of AI stresses me out and it is just very dumb.

I agree completely with your assessment of AI, @Nile Hippo Expert. I am beyond disgusted with AI and fear that it will be the downfall of society. Now is the time for governments to put strict regulations on its use, but instead the U.S. is giving $500 billion for further development. We are creating a society where people are becoming increasingly dependent on technology for everything. Many students are graduating high school not knowing how to read, write a sentence, or do simple arithmetic. Further, they don't care because they know AI will do everything for them.

I've been doing nature photography for over 20 years and lately I've been seeing the most ridiculous images in my Facebook news feed of plants, animals, and landscapes that don't exist (totally wrong colors, shapes, etc.). What's worse is that if you read the comments, people ooh and aah over the pictures and say they are amazed at God's handiwork. If there is one thing I know for certain, it's that God does not need any help from AI in creating nature. I make it a practice not to use AI for anything and suggest that anyone who values human intelligence and creativity do the same!

How easily I get upset when something goes wrong or doesn't go as I wanted or planned, and how I don't really seem able to find a solution for this.

I'm also really annoyed with myself for having a public meltdown at a zoo yesterday. And later on during the visit there were some kids being a nuisance that spooked some animals with their noise, and I told off their mother (or guardian) in an inappropriate way. I basically ended up getting told that zoos are for families with kids and that I shouldn't be a whiner.

It has now kind of settled in my head that zoos are for families with kids and not for mentally and socially maladjusted freaks like myself and that maybe I am the public nuisance.

Now I really don't want to - nor plan to - give up on zoos and I actually intend to continue with my plans for 2025, but I do think I have some work to do and some solutions to find, but I don't really know where to start right now.

Zoos are for all the visitors and no one should upset the animals. It’s no comfort I’m sure but I expect you didn’t tell them off in an inappropriate way and they were just being defensive knowing the kids had done the wrong thing.

It’s presumptuous to offer advice so I would say that you have just as much right to enjoy a lovely day at the zoo as anyone else who has a ticket. And the zoo supports that by selling you one.
