Things you regret doing in zoos as a kid?

I forgot to mention how I walked passed by or didn't pay attention at the birds in my visit to Berlin. So I may or may not have seen the Andean and James's flamingos, nocturnal curassow, and channel billed cuckoo.

Honestly, I don't think I have many zoo regrets as a kid...I pretty thoroughly took advantage of my zoo, at least as far as a kid really can. I definitely spent more time on my favorites (in my case primates) than other animals, but I feel like most kids do that. What I really regret is drifting away from zoos in my teens and 20s, until I realized how much I missed zoos in my 30s. In particular, I definitely wish I'd volunteered at my local zoo in my teens...I had a friend who volunteered, and it definitely seemed pretty awesome, but I guess I thought I was too busy with school.

I don't know if I should be on this thread, considering I'm legally not an adult, but I regret not realizing the rarity of species when I was "younger". Rare species like tarsiers, red shanked doucs, and others whizzed over my head due to my lack of knowledge of the species. Now there's no doucs in the US and I doubt I'll be in Japan again.

Beating my chest in front of a gorilla, he actually ran at the glass and tapped in Lincoln Park Zoo. Well slammed against it aggressively.

The last time I would ever do that one. I even witnessed a child do that a few years ago. History repeating itself.

At least you realised the error of your ways!

One of New Zealand’s zoos was visited by a “wizard” who antagonised the gorillas to the point they charged the glass, by chest beating and chanting:
