Note on gazelles and climate: it is rather the lack of hard standing and sandy substrate. Grass tends to attract heavy parasitic loads, to which gazellines are particularly susceptible. More environment, enclosure than anything else ... certainly was not genetic as the Gazella gazella Yemen had quite a broad founder make up.
