Those We Have Known....

Were has zoogiraffe been? He hasn’t been active in four months, and from the looks of it his account was disabled. Also, @Otter Lord hasn’t posted in over two & a half years, but seems to log on every month.
 
Does anyone else remember how, a few years ago (2014 or 2015?), there was a suspicious member who bragged about having a huge private collection of zoo animals? I think that the user claimed to live somewhere in Southeast Asia. They posted many photos of the animals that they supposedly owned, but I think that they only posted one or two photos of each species, and at least one of the photos was discovered to have been taken from elsewhere on the internet. Whatever became of that user?

Try "all the photos came from elsewhere on the internet" :p Sebbe is indeed a bit of a Zoochat legend as trolls go, although his antics were rather longer ago than you recall - 2007, in fact! Once his lies were rumbled he abandoned his account, later creating at least one or two new accounts which he seldom ever posted on, mostly using them to copiously PM other users, and which no one really caught onto being him. I don't even recall what the new usernames were now, and I'm not sure he's logged into them for years....

I was trying to remember his name but you got there first. It went on quite a long time before he was rumbled, didn't it. After all, why would you bother?:D

How do moderators know that members are exchanging PMs?

Anyone can see if someone is currently reading/writing a PM - not just moderators.

When you look at someone's profile whilst they are online it says which page/thread they are currently reading; if they are in the PM system at the time it says "engaged in conversation".
 
Although I wasn’t on this website at the time @Simon McGlary seened like he was a Great Edinburgh Zoo fan (like me) but seemed to have disappeared by 2014. I have seen he also has a YouTube channel, which he hasn’t posted on since late 2019. I saw he had suffered from depression, so I hope he was ok during lockdown.
