Thread of the Year 2019: Submissions

This is sort of like when they gave Barack Obama the Nobel Peace Prize after he’d been in office for three months and hadn’t done anything yet.

Not quite true, unless Obama @Chlidonias has quite an impressive long-term track record when it comes to the stuff they are nominated for. This is probably the only time Obama and Chlidonias will be mentioned in one sentence :p

Short answer no. However, I said that if anyone is kind enough to vote for Zoo Decisions 3 then to please vote for the first thread in the series (which represents all the threads).

One rather wonders where you said this, given there's no such post on the forum as far as I can tell :p creating a private groupchat with selected people to say "if you want to vote for my thread WINK WINK then you need to all vote for this one, no obligation though" might be suggested to sail murky waters......

As I previously mentioned; the comment was aimed at reminding people of @pachyderm pros rule from last year, where people can’t vote for a series (only an individual thread). I (and everyone who participates in ZD3) view it as a single thread; however I have been advised in the past that moderators prefer threads to stay under 1,000 posts (please advise me if this is no longer the case?), so it is split into phases. While it would certainly make things simpler if people could vote for ZD3 as a single thread, it is against the rules of this competition and I respect that. :)

The rules of this year’s competition hold no mention of forbidding discussions between members on voting (private or public). The rules don’t even forbid people from telling people to vote for them. However I believe doing so could be regarded as offensive as it implies people are not free to vote based on their own opinions (which of course they are), and directly asking people for their vote is not something I would do.

I won’t deny I am of course extremely grateful to the people who have chosen to vote for ZD3. They have all contributed (some immensely) to this thread and deserve any recognition this thread gets for the effort they have put in.

I'll have to have a think about three threads to pick, but I'd like to point out that On the trail of the Bilou - Travels among the Mentawai by @FunkyGibbon and Vision Visits Panama: The Quest for a Quetzal by @Vision are both from 2019, and a lot of the photographic threads are from this year also (mainly the bird ones).
I remembered I hadn't yet given my three nominations.

It will be the two above (FunkyGibbon's and Vision's), plus Hipporex's Guide to Interesting and Unique Prehistoric Fauna

My nominations are:

Zoochat Cup - Rebooted by @CGSwans

Snowleopard's Road trip to France, Netherlands, Belgium and Germany by @snowleopard

Hipporex's guide to unique and interesting prehistoric fauna by @Hipporex

Sorry for not linking them :)

It was really tough to decide because there were so many other ones that were great. Maybe if @Chlidonias's photo of the Sunda pangolin in Singapore had been in focus it would have snuck in :D
