Thread of the Year 2021: Nominations

I nominate:

ZooChat Big Year 2021 by @Chlidonias - It was really great to see members slowly start to venture out further to find wildlife or return to familiar spots. There were lots of awesome moments but some of my favourites involved everyone’s favourite walrus, images of flamingos in Morocco and all the mini-trips/stories that were interwoven throughout the year. It’s a nice meeting place for members across continents to share their experiences.

Make it Up as I Go: Pachy Pros Summer Travels by @pachyderm pro - a very enjoyable read. Learnt lots about Omaha and the International Crane Foundation in particular.

Top 20 favourite birds you've seen & top 15 birds you want to see by @Benosaurus - a great idea for a thread.

"A guide to the rarities of Europe" by @amur leopard
"Exploring What's on my Doorstep: WhistlingKite24 does South-east Queensland" by @WhistlingKite24
"The Zoochat Photographic Guide to Parrots" by @Chlidonias

I amend my list to the following:

"A guide to the rarities of Europe" by @amur leopard
"Exploring What's on my Doorstep: WhistlingKite24 does South-east Queensland" by @WhistlingKite24
"Slender Lorises, Duct Tape, and Whataburger: A Fish on Dry Land" by @Coelacanth18

#1--- "Slender Lorises, Duct Tape, and Whataburger: A Fish on Dry Land", by @Coelacanth18
A fantastic gift given during the holidays, for me at least. Really a joy.

#2--- "Zoo/Aquarium Hot Takes", by @pachyderm pro
An interesting thread to say the least- It was quite interesting learning about people's different "Hot takes", and really just a well made fun thread to read and participate in.

#3-- "COVID-19 Vaccination - Personal experiences", by @TeaLovingDave
Now, It may be a little strange to put an arguably off-topic thread on a thread of the year nomination list, but I personally think it's more on topic than anything. This and another thread that talked about Covid-19 effects on zoos were highly important this time of year. Covid would be predicted to be gone by April or May of 2020 and that was CLEARLY false. And again, Personal experiences are something that always intrigues me, as is a running theme throughout my choices here.

Now If I could choose my favorite thread of the year that I contributed to, It would be the Animal alphabet game. Even though that's been split into 2 threads of now, My god I did not expect that thread to take off. 80 pages before it was split was just a bunch of people listing animals, and to go on for that long before taking a halt I applaud the zoochat gods for that. I don't even think that challenge was even that well made?!?

I forgot that second one was from this year. I'd like to amend my nominations:
"ZooChat Challenge North America 2021" by @Coelacanth18
"Slender Lorises, Duct Tape, and Whataburger: A Fish on Dry Land" by @Coelacanth18
"Zoo/Aquarium Hot Takes" by @pachyderm pro

I’d like to nominate:

Australasian Population List Index by @WhistlingKite24

Exploring What’s on my Doorstep: WhistlingKite24 does South-east Queensland' by @WhistlingKite24

A Guide to the Rarities of Europe' by @amur leopard

I somehow forgot this thread was begun this year and am hereby amending my vote to include it:

https://www.zoochat.com/community/t...ontinuation-of-zoofan15s-mesozoic-zoo.481475/ by @ChIkEn NuGrEt.

Although I’ve been more focussed on other areas of the forum this year, I wanted to acknowledge the hard work @ChIkEn NuGrEt clearly put into this thread, which was loosely based on the award winning Mesozoic Zoo series.

My other two nominations are:

Australasian Population List Index by @WhistlingKite24

Exploring What’s on my Doorstep: WhistlingKite24 does South-east Queensland' by @WhistlingKite24

One version coming in second last year makes this a rather bold claim methinks.

Like you say it was voted 2nd best thread on ZooChat. Not too shabby imo. It remains one of the most successful fantasy series, second only to Zoo Decisions.
