You know the drill. As 2024 draws to a close it's time for the 8th annual ZooChat Thread of the Year completion. This is a celebration of the valuable content produced by ZooChat members over the last year. If you've participated in the past you should know how this works, but as we seem to be getting more new contributors than ever these days, here's a quick refresh on the rules:
1.) On this thread, post the titles of exactly three threads (and the users that created them) that you think deserve to be considered for Thread of the Year. Any type of thread is eligible for nomination: news, discussion, travel, lists, history, speculative design, etc. It just has to have been created between December 15th, 2023 and December 15th, 2024.
2.) You cannot submit your own thread to be nominated. However, if your thread is within the top contenders you are permitted to vote for it.
3.) When the first round nominations have concluded, the top five threads that received the most nominations will be entered into a poll. In the event two or more threads tie for the fifth most nominations, both threads will be included in the final poll.
4.) Absolutely no privately soliciting votes under any circumstances. If you are reported doing so, it will result in your nominations being disregarded and your thread becoming ineligible for nomination. Repeat offenders will be banned from participation in the future. With that said, you can campaign publicly for any thread you think deserves to be given a nomination if you’d like.
The nomination period will end on December 15th at 11:59 PM Chicago time. From there a separate thread will be created to vote for the winner between the selected finalists. Whatever thread has the most votes at 11:59 PM Chicago time on December 31st will win the coveted title of 2024 ZooChat Thread of the Year.
