At the beginning of April a Pygmy hippo was born at Chemnitz .

Mother is Petty - 24 years old
The young is a female and named Malela Tamika
Another very intresting birth is that of a female Somali wild ass.

At the end of May a Goeldi's tamarin was born at Chemnitz and on Nov. 10 again a young was born .

New species for Chemnitz : 1 - 2 Rock cavy's arrived. They share their enclosure with a pair of Pygmy marmosets.

On April 7th, a female Bactrian camel was born to Siri. She has been named Namika. Also, 2 Bennett's wallabies got out of the pouch recently. Heinrich and Katharina, the emus had 4 chicks on March 16th. Wildgate Oberrabenstein received on February 13th a male European turtle-dove from Dresden zoo and they are waiting for a female to come.

A West Caucasian Tur was born on May 17th. The group at Chemnitz is now of five individuals.

A Vietnamese Sika deer was born on May 10th. A first breeding for this specie at the zoo, they started keeping this specie last year. The females came from Karlsruhe and Tierpark Berlin, and the males from Usti Nad Labem.

A female European Bison left to Berlin a week ago. Now the group is of 1.2 at Wildgate Oberrabenstein.

Also, 2 lowland anoa bulls arrived from Gdansk. They are named Belik and Darek. They will be company to female Natasha who has lived at the zoo for more than 20 years.

On June 23 a male African wild ass was born but on July 6 its mother died. The foal is now being hand-raised.
