Chester Zoo released this morning the death of the 11-day-old tiger cub. They are carrying out a investigation of the cause of the death.
The mother Karina, first-time-mum, is doing fine.

The cub was found in his enclosure this morning.

Updates coming soon.

There may be more tigers cubs at Chester soon, as the cats were mating (in full view of delighted/embarrased visitors) when I was there last week!

That's generally what Big Cats do after the death of cubs, Padang and Alesha the Tigers at South Lakes mated within a week of Kadi the cub being removed but as far as Alesha and Padang know they don't know about her after she was removed very early in life.

The matings are to do with hormones Jordan, the female will start cycling again and want to mate. Emotions aren't really involved when hormones are. :)
