ZSL London Zoo Tiger HQ at ZSL London Zoo

Thanks for the History-fascinating. I've always wondered why that path ends abruptly at the fence where you can see the black fallow deer herd and the odd Emu on the other side. It is an attractive area too- probably the only real 'valley' in the Park. I can imagine it as being an alternative entrance to Whipsnade.

This is why, frankly, I get so annoyed at grandiose schemes at RP. It will always be a cramped inner city site littered with listed buildings, split into three segments and the unmistakeable vistas of Central London never far away.

IMO, simple and flexible exhibits have to be the key to developing RP. It simply doesn't lend itself to big expensive immersive displays. All these will achieve is drive out the possibility of managing smaller animals (like the anoa - where will they go if the new tiger exhibit is built?) less well suited to Whipsnade.

The latter, by contrast, has an undeveloped area about the same size as Chester Zoo. No further comment on this last point seems necessary to me...:)
