Symbio Wildlife Park tigers

I contacted Auckland in July with regards to when Cinta and Jalur would be departing and the plan was that they would leave sometime before the end of this year although a date hadn't been set then

Will they be going directly to Symbio or going via Sydney, Dubbo or another for quarantine?

in this press release today from Auckland Zoo it says the tigers are going to Symbio in late October (i.e. next month)

In addition, two young Sumatran tigers, siblings - male Jalur and female Cinta relocate to Simbio Wildlife Park in New South Wales in late October as part of the international captive breeding programme for this critically endangered big cat. Jalur and Cinta, along with their brother Berani, made history at Auckland Zoo when born in June 2008 to mum Molek and dad Oz – becoming the first tigers to be bred here, and their progress has been closely followed by many tiger lovers.

An article in the Illawarra Mercury today (27th october 2010) states that the tigers arrived from New Zealand overnight and will spend the next 30 days at Mogo in quarantine before going to Symbio. The article doesn't give a date for their public debut.

Im very interested to hear if anyone knows how the cubs are doing. last i heard they were doing well in mogo but now they will have moved to symbio. Anyone know whats going on with them?

Anyone have any updates on if they have been placed on display then? Also, where and when will Auckland send Berani to another collection?

The last I heard from Auckland Zoo, there are no plans to relocate Berani in the short term. They are currently planning to retain Oz, Molek and Berani but not breed (or source mates) for any of them.

I think it would have been better to have bred Oz with Soroya at Mogo Zoo, rather than get more cubs from the Shiva-Seletan line but I'm sure there's a good reason.

Anyone have pictures of the cubs (well not anymore i suppose) in their enclosure or just the enclosure? Or just the cubs? basically any pictures? :P

Saw the two new tigers yesterday - they are still not 100% settled into their new environment with some temporary visual barriers still in place to enable hiding from visitors. They were very active during the keeper talk - where many food enrichment items were scattered around the exhibit.

The exhibit is very nice - its huge at about 1200sqm well grassed, slight undulates, very large pebbled pond, large rocks (boulders), large tree trunks, climbing / scratching pole, two large platforms and is on the way to being well planted - inside and out. They are just putting some finishing touches on the exhibit - but looks great. There is two adjoining holding yards and dens for the future - which are also grassed and decent size - but are not on public display.

the perimeter fence is 5m high with a 1m overhang and hot wire at the top.

quite a nice exhibit.... well done Symbio....
