Over here in the UK, many of our seaside towns (tourism areas) have signs up saying do not feed the seagulls as they have in some areas become quite aggressive and can hurt people, especially the old and children. In recent times some local councils have made it illegal to feed seagulls direct with monetary fines if caught.

The bird above labelled as unidentified songbird has been identified as a Lucy's warbler. I changed the title on the original photo but the time limit for editing the post above has expired.

I go out at sunset to see if I can find the javelinas. A group with babies is walking on the bank of brush from the larger lower wash (where they usually are) up a narrow side wash that approaches my unit. They are largely obscured by a get a couple shots of a baby.

I hear sound in some thick brush next to the trash dumpster indicating something is about to come out. Suddenly a juvenile coyote comes out of the brush running full speed towards me. When he sees me he veers to my right (deeper into the parking lot) to avoid me. A lone adult javelina is chasing him at full speed. It happens so quickly I can barely get a couple shots of each (with the coyote sadly coming out blurry).

I go up the hill to the sidwalk at above our unit to a spot that looks down into the small side wash, which the coyote had run back into. I am hoping to get more shots of him, but I never see him again. I go back to the javelinas which are down in the wash and get a few shots. On review of the image below on my computer, I make a troubling discovery. You may not see it on this small upload, but there appears to be a yellow bowl on the ground with a round wire noose in front of it. I forgot about it until just now, but I need to photograph it with a stronger telephoto to confirm if it is indeed an illegal trap. If so I will need to report it to Arizona Game & Fish.

July 14, 2021.

My brother is in town briefly and comes over for dinner and to look for javelinas. Our first close encounter is a desert cottontail rabbit that is contentedly grooming and tolerates our close proximity better than most of others.

We walk up the wash behind my complex and see no javelinas, but my brother photographs a northern cardinal. Arriving back at the parking lot a young boy on his bike informs us he has seen javelinas in the smaller side wash near my unit. We head over and photogrhaph them in the brush between the wash and the parking lot, then they enter the parking lot.

The javelina herd splits and a couple adults go to the lawn across from my unit while my brother follows them. The rest of the group, including two babies, go through the complex towards the main wash at the bottom. While my brother goes to the lawn I stick with the main group and get a few shots as they hurredly crosss the lot and go into the wash.

July 22, 2021.

I found a curious roadrunner that approached me closely in the wash below the parking lot. As I was distracted photographing it, I glanced up to see a coyote crossing the wash and going into the brush by our parking lot. I waited to see if it would come out lower down by me, but it never did. If I hadn't been watching the roadrunner I could have gotten the coyote (which I was not quick enough to photograph).

July 29, 2021.

I have decided to start carrying my camera in my car all the time after a missed opportunity three days ago. I was driving to work just a couple blocks from my home and a coyote walked casually across the road in front of me with a raccoon in its mouth. On the way home that same day a coyote walked across the road in front of me in the rain. This day I am off and walk around my complex, but see nothing that interesting. (In the evening though I do get some good lightning shots a few blocks from my place).

August 4, 2021.

I left to drive out to Tucson Mountain Park for sunset photos when I saw a coyote on the sidewalk as soon as I pulled out of our complex. He went down into a small wash that runs next to our parking lot so I turned around and drove back to the main entrance (the exit I had used next to the wash is one way). He was walking through our parking lot towards me and I got some shots out my car window. Most coyotes I see are skittish and run when they see a person, but this one was surprisignly relaxed.
