Toledo Zoo Toledo Zoo and Aquarium news 2025

First visit to the Toledo Zoo in 2025

Can confirm White Cheeked Gibbons are still on display.

Reptile house construction is well underway and there are more renderings placed outside.
I saw the Reptile House banners but didn't know they were new! Thank you for clarifying on the Gibbon.

The bears were nowhere to be seen and another guest suggested they had been off-display all day. I also missed the Tasmanian devils from both the bridge viewing and the behind the flamingo viewing - did they lose their Tembo Trail space? I also didn't see any gibbon signage or individual in Primate Forest - just two kinds of lemur, red-tailed guenons and colobus. Promedica's upper view of the Tropics gallery was closed, though I did the walk - anything in there but the dart frogs? Is it closed often?
The Grizzly sisters and Dodge usually spend their time bts indoors. The devils have 5 exhibits, with 3 pairs. 2 pairs are in the new exhibit (4 separate spaces) and the original pair is along Tembo Trail across from the indoor hippo viewing. Was it you saw those primate species or those were signed? The zoo has 3 signage points, having those species rotating, along with Francois Langurs, Chinese Red Pandas and White-Cheeked Gibbons. ProMedica's Tropics room closes early upstairs. The tropics room holds dart frogs, geckos, victoria crowned pigeons and a few other tropical pigeons. It also formerly held blue morphos, and hummingbirds.

Thank you for so many quick answers!
- Sad to hear the bears don't come outside much! I was excited to see the two kinds of brown bear together.
- I completely missed the Tembo Trail Tazzy exhibit... maybe it was covered up temporarily or maybe I'm nuts. I remember seeing the mural and signage, so it's not like I didn't look in the exact area, but I thought actively "why is that here when there isn't an exhibit?" and don't recall seeing a viewing window there. Very odd.
- I saw the species mentioned directly as well as the Red Panda, but no langurs or gibbons. Maybe I just missed the signage. I knew there was some rotation but not that some species were not viewable as a result of this. Mistake on my part. I didn't research Primate Forest like I did most of the facility.
- The volunteer/employee mentioned the frogs and geckos but no birds, but maybe the birds were on the higher area.

Bears are usually out on colder days, usually below 70*. The devil's mural can coverup the exhibit as it's a sliding wall. Was it on the left side? Usually it is the gibbons and colobus (and guenons) outdoors, along with ring tailed lemurs and langurs indoors. There used to be even more species to make it even more confusing. Sometimes there are birds on the lower level, sometimes there are not.

Thank you. The mural was probably closed then. I remember feeling like it was too far to the left, while in photos showing the window open it looks to the right. Phew. I thought I was crazy for a minute there.

Makes sense for the bears as it was super warm when I was there.

I saw the ringtailed lemurs and red-tailed guenons indoors, the red-tailed had indoor and outdoor access, and colobus and red ruffed lemur were in the exhibits before them near the Primate Forests entrance.

Thank you for all your advice/help!

Hello everyone, I just had some questions since I'm going to the zoo tomorrow, if you guys don't mind.

- Is the polar bear area still closed?
- Are there any tigers currently at the zoo?
- Anything other closure or helpful info?

Thank you

I visited a couple days ago. The polar bear area is open, and the mother-daughter pair of tigers are on exhibit.

The arctic section has been open since May. Currently the zoo only has 2 tigers, the zoo has recently closed the reptile house the aquarium may be partially closed for a renovation.

I visited the zoo today and here are some updates

1 from the looks of it the Tasmania devil exhibit in tembo trail might be gone or about to get updates
Now I saw a Tasmania devil in their new exhibit in between the mara exhibit and flamingo aviary

2 there is new animals in the museum between the artifacts section and vemonous snake room the new animals are mostly Amphibians including south American bird poop frog no I am not joking that's a thing and a red spotted toad in with the Colorado river toads

4 aquarium news there is a couple of new species in the lion fish tank including leopard grouper and I believe a couple of stone fish

5 Murphy the snow leopard born last year is now on his own I was told by a worker

6The gorilla indoor exhibit viewing area was closed for some reason also the orangutan family with the baby born last year was off exhibit

The devils should be getting some upgrades, as the media team is pretty vocal about deaths. The new amphibian section has been here since late 2024 and replaced the former aquatic venomous creatures. There are 60+ new species in the aquarium.

I was there on Tuesday, and I'm pretty certain I saw all the orangutans, except for the older juvenile. I saw two adults with a very young baby, and two other adult orangutans in the other exhibits.
