Actually Nan is already at Brookfield.
I heard the same thing. I believe since last week. If they do their quarantine like when Anana the polar bear was there a few years ago, she could be on exhibit, alone, in the next week or so. It's easier for the winter with three bear exhibits and the brown bears behind the scenes hibernating.
Hopefully that is the case. I agree it's convenient that with 3 bear exhibits, and the grizzly brothers in hibernation, its a perfect time for Nan to make her debut. All of us in Chicago are hoping with better success than with Anana.

The Toledo Zoo now has three polar bears; Marty (adult male), Crystal (adult female), and Hope (female cub). Nan has reproduced in the past in 2006. Her offspring is Nikita, male currently residing at the North Carolina Zoo on a breeding loan from Kansas City Zoo.

Nanuyaak was found orphaned in Alaska in 1995, and is presumed to have been born in late 1994, making her just over 22 years old.
Given that she is a proven breeder, as is Aussie at Brookfield, and coincidentally both have had their last cubs just over 10 years ago at the end of 2006, I am very intrigued to see if this switch up of animals will stimulate successful breeding. Of course Aussies son, Hudson, is 10 years old and a viable option for potential breeding as well.

I believe the intention is to breed Nanuyaak with Hudson, seeing as Aussie is elderly and already well-represented.
Yes, Aussie is not recommended to breed probably due to his representation and also his older age. Hopefully Hudson gained experience with his couple of years with Anana.
Nairobi Pavilion renovation will be completed by summer. They are suspending the preschool temporarily for a year as they begin to move offices and the preschool out of the Museum of Science to other locations so they can renovate. No others details have been released by the zoo recently.
