Toledo Zoo Toledo Zoo News 2014

Just visited Penguin Beach today and thought it was very nice and semi unique ( no Pictures because Bonnie is the photographer and she did not visit with me today)Visitors enter through a classic bird exhibit set of hanging chains into a deck walk.To the left is a beach/land area and some shallow water that gets deeper as it flows under the deck walk.Mean while visitors exit down a stair case and can view the penguins through deep water glass once they exit.The exhibit is built on a hill which makes for penguin viewing at different depths.I know this might sound a bit confusing but the exhibit is good.

The Hippoquarium is currently closed. We will post more information about its reopening at a later date.

"Please help us spread the word! The Zoo is closing for the day today (Saturday, Aug. 2), as a result of the water situation in Toledo. Closing the Zoo enables us to conserve our reserves of water for animals and internal use."

Well the water is unsafe to drink so they spent the day monitoring the animals for any effects from the previous days they were consuming the water. I appreciate that they would give up a day of ticket sales to make sure everyone was ok. Thats a sign of a good caring zoo :) As of today they all seemed fine and were able to open today (Aug 3) Heres an article on whats going on in Toledo as a city and whats up with the water.
