I may be going to the Toledo zoo this week. What's under construction and which species aren't viewable right now.
Honestly, I don't have much, but don't expect to see the Dingoes in their normal enclosure ( they're in Nieve's original enclosure until the construction for Kodiak Ridge is complete ), and I believe the meerkats and the enclosure next to them on the right are unoccupied at the moment. Besides those, I'm not entirely sure.

I know this isn't exactly the most exotic animal in the world, but I believe just around a few days or a week ago, 8 of these little chicks ( none of them being biological to the two hens who were watching over them ) were within the indoor Barnyard building. Right now they've taken over Judy's enclosure until further notice, but don't fear. Judy the Flemish Giant Rabbit isn't dead. From what I heard shes with education staff until the little chicks move out. I don't know what breeds they are, but the hens are supposedly going to replace the adult hens in the future. As for the roosters ( there were atleast 2 of them ), I'm not sure what the plans are. But for now, have these. I apologize for the low quality, as I took these on my phone. 20220911_142119.jpg 20220911_141647.jpg

Just today, I heard the news that there's a new Chinchilla in Nature's Neighborhood. All I know is that their name is Oreo, but supposedly they've been doing ALOT of parkour.

I'm not sure if Oreo is the chinchilla I saw there in early August! In the "pets' house" area of Nature's Neighborhood, I saw a cage of doves (not sure which species) and a chinchilla cage. Any idea of what dove species they are? Also, I remember domestic cats in Nature's Neighborhood in 2013... do you know when the zoo got rid of them?

These barred dragons are extremely rare in captivity? If they are on exhibit and indeed rare, this will be an important destination for me in 2023.

You only want to see them if they're rare?
No. If they are not at all common in captivity, then there is a greater risk that they will soon become absent from North American collections, and I have been trying to build up my list of species seen. I have not done a good job at managing reptiles on this list, something I'm working on, but I am fairly certain that this is a species that I haven't seen before.

Are the kraits back on exhibit. I saw a post from May that said they would soon be returning to public display.

Many-colored fruit doves were only in Toledo until the Bronx acquired some. I suspect that this only occurred because the Toledo curator who moved to the Bronx Zoo has a great interest in the species. What are some of the other rare birds, fish, reptiles, and amphibians at the zoo? I don't know enough about captive fish species, but the hagfish might be rare. I know Kihansi spray toads can only be found here and in New York City.

But why? Because you recognize and appreciate the animal? Or so you can boast of having seen "the most"?
