Those hours are bizarre. I cannot comment on how the darkness would affect your zoo visit, but since the indoor area of the zoo are the main part worth seeing I would think visiting now would be fine - the only outdoor exhibit worth seeing that you would miss out on in the winter would be the Pheasantry.
After going through the website, which is not the clearest in regards to Lights before Christmas, I found a link to a map that had the following exhibits as fully closed:
Flamingo Key, Cassowary Crossing, the Aviary, Pheasantry, Great Apes, Galapagos Gardens, Penguin Beach.
Partially closed are: the Promedica museum of natural history (Second Level closed), Primate Forest (Indoor viewing closed), Nature's neighborhood (Indoor viewing closed)

That is most of the zoo including many indoor areas and highlights. It is weird to see a northern zoo as big as Toledo essentially closed for the winter. I'm hoping to visit in the spring or summer instead. They still seem to be charging full admission which seems, frankly, quite ridiculous.

Yeah, wait until ProMedica is fully open to visit. I must say though, while that is most of the zoo in terms of space, all of those exhibits closed still leaves nearly all of Toledo's animal collection visible.

ProMedica and the Aviary are must-see attractions at Toledo that can absolutely not be skipped. Flamingo Key and the Pheasantry are the best outdoor exhibits Toledo has to offer, and I'm sure they are never open in the winter with all of the tropical species found there. But Cassowary Crossing, Great Apes, Galapagos Gardens, Penguin Beach, Primate Forest and Nature's Neighborhood are are very skippable. Trust me, you wouldn't be missing out on much.

Brookfield has done similar hours for Holiday Magic post-COVID. But much like Brookfield and what @birdsandbats said, the best stuff at Toledo is indoors.
The difference is, Brookfield still offers regular 10am-5pm hours a few days each week, and most of the areas and all the buildings are still open. For over a whole month, Toledo is half closed.

ProMedica and the Aviary
Yeah, these really are the dealbreakers for me along with the pheasantry. It would be nice to see a sign saying 'North Island Brown Kiwi (Apteryx mantelli)' with the (probably quite slim) prospects of seeing one, rather than 'closed'.

Yeah, there's simply now way you would see the kiwi even if the Pheasantry was open.

I learned this the hard way during my last visit.
