This list is ridiculously random and wouldn't be worth the paper if it was printed.
San Antonio Zoo may well have a bad elephant exhibit, but is that enough reason for putting it on the list? Are they the only zoo with a substandard elephant exhibit?
And what is Bowmanville Zoo in Canada doing among Kiev Zoo in Ukraine and that Romanian Zoo? Because their trailer was stolen on the road recently with the two camels and the tiger? Please, could have happened to any zoo!

There's worse than this. Google "Pata Zoo" in Bangkok for starters. 
There are probably way too many small zoos like roadside zoos in the world that almost nobody knows of. Because of that, you can't really make such a list. A list with the 10 worst zoos that are members of WAZA, ISIS or something similar would be more interesting.
The only zoo of the list i've vistited by myself is San Antonio, altough its not the ebst zoo in the Us, my visit was in 2002, I can not agree with that list, you can not compare an Us Zoo with Zoos in egypt, these are two diffrent worlds.
In Japan, I've seen a lot of really bad Zoos, and not only small city zoos, even the "big"zoos in japan can not be compared with western zoos....

Have visited both San Antonio and the Giza Zoos. I would rate San Antonio as one of the top twenty in the US.
In 2000 my wife and I visited the Giza zoo. As we walked in we were met by a policeman, who asked if we wanted to see some baby animals. We said yes and off we went to the back of an exhibit building. Inside we were handed a young fennec fox to hold and take pictures. Next we went to the lion exhibit and were presented with little cub to hold and photogragh and then to the chimp area. There a young chimp was brought out and we held it and took photos. We continued on to hand feed the hippo hay and the giraffes carrots. Lastly we entered the reptile area where they stirred the cobras up which made them spread their hoods.
At each of these encounters, I tipped each keeper a dollar. We were escorted back to the entrance where the policeman asked for his share. He wanted twenty five dollars, I gave him ten and told him that was all I had. We quickly left the zoo.
