I am quite curious what ZooChat members would consider the top 5 aquariums in the U.S. I would like to start a poll, so we need to do nominations

Nominations:
National Aquarium in Baltimore
Monterey Bay Aquarium
Shedd Aquarium
New England Aquarium
Georgia Aquarium

Do we want to include SeaWorld?

Any others just add to the list and we can come up with an agreement for the top 5 list.

I think the Adventure Aquarium in Camden, NJ is very good, and the Tennesee Aquarium is great, epecially because its focus is on freshwater.

My top 5 aquariums:

#1 - Shedd
#2 - Georgia
#3 - Monterey Bay
#4 - Baltimore
#5 - Tennessee

@snowleopard, where does the New England Aquarium stand on your top aquarium list. Just curious.

1. Monterey Bay
2. Shedd
3. Georgia
4. National in Baltimore
5. Tennessee

6. Steinhart
7. Long Beach
8. Oregon
9. Seattle
10. Vancouver

Of some note:

New England
Florida
Dallas World Aquarium (better as a zoo)
Audubon
New Jersey
Aquarium of the Bay
Pt. Defiance
Scripps

@NAIB Volunteer: I have not seen the New England Aquarium, but my #6 slot would go to Canada's Vancouver Aquarium.

Ok, if you are ever in New England it is a nice aquarium to visit. It was designed by the same architect who built the National Aquarium to give you an idea. While not as impressive as others, it is still on of my favorites.

I'll be going to Vancouver next summer for our family vacation, so I'm defiantly going to see the Vancouver Aquarium.

i have been to New England Aquarium

i have been to New England Aquarium i would not put in top 10 i have been to Georgia and National in Baltimore and both of them are beather then New England Aquarium any day

I put Baltimore over Shedd. I have not visited the other 3 of the typical top 5 though. Adventure Aquarium and the Aquarium of the Pacific are both good too.

I think they are close. Shedd has an advantage in species mainly due to belugas and penguins, they both consistently have good to great tanks, but what puts Baltimore a little ahead in my mind are the rainforest exhibit which is a nice immersion experience, but especially the Australia exhibit, which is fantastic! So to me, the Australis exhibit along with the dolphins (to balane out Shedd's dolphins) outweigh Shedd's Oceanarium which is also great and is what gives them a species edge.

Georgia is clearly in there as well, and may be #1 based on what I've seen/read. Tennessee is probably the other one.

Ok so these are the aquariums that i will put in the poll; Monterey, Baltimore, Tennessee, Shedd, and Georgia

Well if you are trying to determine the top 5, you should probably list the full 10 available options.
