Hi, I'm fairly new to this site. I travel the country to zoos all year in my free time. I've been to nearly 50 mostly in the Midwest and south. I was just wondering, if u don't mind answering, what your individual top tens that u have been to are. This may help me plan trips in the the future. Thanks. Here's mine.
1 Henry Doorly zoo
2 San Diego zoo / wild animal park
3 Disney's Animal kingdom
4 Saint Louis zoo
5 Minnesota zoo
6 Cincinnati zoo
7 Atlanta Zoo
8 Brookfield Zoo
9 Memphis zoo
10 Detroit Zoo
 
Another thread ranking zoos?:) Don't worry, many ZooChatters love to discuss the pros and cons of various facilities and I like the look of your list (all good zoos) although my own tastes are slightly different. I've toured exactly 180 zoos and aquariums in my lifetime (including around 160 in North America) and here are my top 10 American zoos:

1- San Diego
2- Omaha
3- Bronx
4- Columbus
5- Saint Louis
6- Sedgwick County
7- North Carolina
8- Denver
9- Woodland Park
10- San Diego Zoo Safari Park

Just bubbling under the top 10: Miami, Minnesota, Dallas, Oklahoma City and Detroit.
 
After visiting a few more establishments over the last couple years (to make a total of 16 lifetime zoos), I have decided to redo my rankings. This is my Top 10 along with the latest year I visited:

1. San Diego Zoo Safari Park (2012)
2. San Diego Zoo (2012)
3. St. Louis Zoo (2013)
4. Columbus Zoo (2008)
5. Brookfield Zoo (2011)
6. Busch Gardens Africa (2008)
7. Disney's Animal Kingdom (2008)
8. Phoenix Zoo (2010)
9. Knoxville Zoo (2013)
10. Buffalo Zoo (2011)

The other six after that would be in this order: The Wilds (2008), Out of Africa (2011), Milwaukee County Zoo (2013), Racine Zoo (2009), Henry Vilas Zoo (2010), and National Zoo (2009).
 
My top 10 (I don't rank the Bronx because I went when I was 11 in 99 so I don't remember much)
