Hello --

Just throwing a question out there:

Who do you consider to be the best or most innovative zoo designers / conceptualizers working today?

And in a semi-related question... does anyone know how I could get in contact with David Hancocks?

Any help would be most appreciated!

I wouldn't go to Hancocks for zoo design advice any more. He's become rather anti zoo these days.
 
Hancocks apparently now works through a consultancy, Sanmor & Associates, based in Melbourne. There are several other ex-zoo people in the consultancy:

2 that I have personally had dealings with and have a great deal of respect for are Studio Hanson/Roberts and Jon Coe design
 
Who is best depends somewhat on the project you have in mind. Each firm has its strengths and weaknesses.

If other efforts to contact David don't succeed, forward your request to me and I will forward to him (I feel it is not appropriate to pass on his email without his agreement)

I disagree.
He does seem to have become more critical of bad zoos and predictable zoos and zoos that will not change and grow. His concept of zoo has evolved (yet again) and I think should not be dismissed so completely simply because it challenges our Old School thinking
