Well given a choice if I could only visit 1 I would pick Tatyo, due to the fact that they give all their visitors a free pack of cheese and onion crisp.

According to the web Tayto Park costs €28 and Dublin €17.50. How about going to Dublin and ordering the crisps from Tesco, whose website will sell you six packets of cheese and onion for €2.35? You'll come out ahead by €8.15 and five packets of crisps.

Beware the misleading marketing allure of bundling.

Maybe if I had paid to visit you would have a valid point but I didn't.

After chatting with some of my friends who visit some of the below countries frequently I can add some more to the list:

Albania = Tirana Zoo
Austria = Tiergarten Schönbrunn
Belarus = Minsk Zoo
Belgium = Planckendael or Pairi Daiza(?)
Bosnia and Herzegovina = Pionirska Dolina
Bulgaria = Sofia Zoo
Croatia = Zagreb Zoo
Cyprus = Limassol Zoo
Czech Republic = Zoo Praha
Denmark = Copenhagen Zoo or Odense Zoo(?)
Estonia = Tallinn Zoo
Finland = Ranua Zoo
France = ZooParc de Beauval or Doue la Fontaine(?)
Germany = Berlin Zoo/Tierpark or Leipzig Zoo(?)
Gibraltar = Alameda Wildlife Conservation Park
Greece = Attica Zoo
Hungary = Sosto Zoo or Budapest Zoo(?)
Ireland = Dublin Zoo
Italy = Parco Natura Viva
Latvia = Riga Zoo
Lithuania = Kaunas Zoo
Luxembourg = Parc Merveilleux
Macedonia = Skopje Zoo
Moldova = Chișinău Zoo
Monaco = Jardin Animalier de Monaco
Netherlands = Koninklijke Burgers' Zoo
Norway = Kristiansand Zoo and Amusement Park
Poland = Wroclaw Zoo
Portugal = Lisbon Zoo
Romania = La Gradina Zoo
Russia = Novosibirsk Zoo

Switzerland = Zoo Zurich or Zoo Basel(?)
Turkey = Ankara Zoo
Ukraine = Nikolaev Zoo
United Kingdom = Chester Zoo

There are still a couple of question marks: Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Spain and Switzerland! So if anyone has any more opinions on these countries that'd be great :)

That does make a sizeable difference, but it also materially changes the basis on which you're placing it ahead of Dublin. :)
I didn't pay to visit Dublin either. Tatyo has far more less commonly kept species, and for me just has something about the place that Dublin doesn't. Even my love of a nice crocodile, cannot change my view that Dublin, is now the second best collection in Ireland.

And it has aardwolves! Who doesn't love aardwolves?

I haven't visited Ranua, but I would be really shocked if it's actually better than Helsinki.
And what about Moscow?

Netherlands - Burgers Zoo
Germany - Zoo Leipzig
Poland - Wroclaw Zoo
France - Zoo Beauval
Belgium - Pairi Daiza
Czech Republic - Zoo Praha

I 've visited most large zoos in Germany and Belgium and my native country of the Netherlands
some in France and the Czech Republic and to be honest just Wroclaw in Poland...

This year it is Spain : Bioparc Valencia, LÓceanographic, Terra Natura Benidorm and Bioparc Fuegirola.
Next year before Brexit England : Paignton, Chester (which is based on website/parkplans/zootierliste by far the best), London, Colchester

Future vacationplans will venture into middle and eastern Europe (but no further than Hungary) as well as Italy.

And what about Moscow?

Having asked a Russian friend, Moscow is apparently good with enclosure design but Novosibirsk is far better with species diversity and the setting. Therefore I shall give it to Moscow Zoo.

And I foolishly thought that Ranua and Helsinki were the same....! I was thinking of Helsinki when I wrote Ranua in.

In france Zoo Amneville is a contender maybe not for the topspot but i put it in the country's top 3.

In the Netherlands you must also mention Diergaarde Blijdorp (Rotterdam Zoo)

Yes both are good but Burgers' Zoo is better than Blijdorp in my opinion.

Have you visited Doue la Fontaine? What makes Beauval the best?

I think most would agree that zurich is clearly better than Basel and Pairi Daiza better tthsn Planckendael. Burgers and Blijdorp are rated rather equally and Cologne is really one of the German top zoos and Tierpark Berlin less so.
