The Topeka Zoo said it will be opening its new Giraffe and Friends on March 10 and feature three new antelope that recently arrived in the capital city. These include Monty the Bontebok and two Thomson’s Gazelles, Tsavo and Haraka. They will join resident giraffe, Sergeant Peppers, Hope and Liz, along with Karen the ostrich who arrived in early February.

On April 24th, the zoo announced they acquired a (0.1) generic giraffe named Daisy from the Jacksonville Zoo in Florida.

On May 1st, the zoo announced they acquired (0.0.~30,000) bees (species not specified) 10 days prior which are now bts at the facility.

On May 4th, the zoo announced that a (0.1) African lion named Zuri passed away at age 19 due to kidney failure.

On May 6th, the zoo announced they will be acquiring a (0.1) Bornean orangutan named Kalijon from the Kansas City Zoo in Missouri in the coming week.

On May 19th, the zoo announced that (0.0.5+) Asian forest scorpions hatched which are now on exhibit in the Schendel Bug Zoo area.

On May 23rd, the zoo announced that they moved a (1.0) African crested porcupine named Spike to a new exhibit in the Camp Cowabunga area.

On June 22nd, the zoo announced that they did a lot of side-projects in collaboration with Evergy's Green Team, which includes building a new climbing structure in the American black bear exhibit, removing wooden fencing in the old giraffe yard, and other projects.

On June 29th, the zoo announced that a (0.1) black-and-white ruffed lemur named Cleo passed away at age 16 due to tumors in and on her liver as well as modules in her lungs.

The AZA sends Sumatran tigers to Topeka when the need is becoming urgent to get their genetics into the nation's zoo population, "which is a nice compliment" for the Topeka Zoo, said zoo director Brendan Wiley.

On July 27th, the zoo announced that they transferred a (1.0) black-and-white ruffed lemur named Sorabe to the Memphis Zoo in Tennessee.

Also on July 27th, it was mentioned that the zoo acquired a (1.0) lesser kudu from the Como Park Zoo in Minnesota.*

On August 20th, it was announced that the zoo transferred a (1.0) black-and-white ruffed lemur named Sorabe to the Memphis Zoo in Tennessee.
