Keepers told me today that the new male kookaburra's name is Jake (they've shortened & simplified something longer)
 
I found out today that the name of the White Lipped Python's in Australasia is actually Iridessa (like iridescent; spelling may be off). "Boots" was a derogatory reference to her.

Apparently someone (I don't know who, why or when) personally didn't like her & felt she should be killed & made into boots. For whatever reason, the name got spread around & stuck.
 
What an interesting list! :)

I could try to do a few on my local zoos/aquariums, but I don't know if I'll get a full list down unfortunately.
 
The snow leopard cubs are Kita (F) and Mylo (M).

Two of the male cheetah cubs are Chester and Flash. The others... I'm working on it.

Nothing to work on - the cheetah names have been known for about a month - Chester, Flash, Douggie, Queenie, and Imara. To me, sounds like a 7-year-old chose some of them.

Did some googling about the SL names and found:

Mylo means merciful or gracious in a few languages.

Kita means "north' in Japanese and is in several place names in Japan, and of course she has come to The North in Canada. One of the places in Japan is Mount Kita. Since there is also a Mount Ena she and her mom have complementary names and I really like that.

Compare with the cheetah names above - ugh.
 
Thanks for the other cheetah names. I agree who thought those were good names. I like Imara and thats it. Hopefully they all get renamed at their next homes.
 
The clouded leopard kittens names (at least temporary names) are Levy and Charlotte. Levy has "bushy eyebrows" above her eyes, like Eugene Levy. She's also the bold one. Charlotte is a little smaller & more shy.
 
Really like the Snow Leopard names. Cheetah names, I can see why they named some of them those particular names, but I don't really care for them. Don't really mind the Clouded Leopard names, although I'd prefer something more rooted in where they come from.

The new snowy owl is names Crystal. She came from African Lion Safari.
 
Correction to cheetah cub, Imara's name. It's actually spelled Emarah.
 
The names for the baby rhinos (both are males, if anyone has not known) are in. The white rhino calf is named Theodore, while the Indian rhino calf is named Kiran.
