Was Jahe shipped out for sure, I know they were trying to but she had to pass her tests first?

Kali (zebra) was shipped out wasn't she? and Blue Jay died?

Any elephants from years a years go like Tantor etc? along with that any older zoo animals lets make this a collaborative effort and get a whole active list together again.

The naming contest has begun on the zoos website for the white lions, penguins and babirusa today. The babirusa female choices are Charlotte, Muna, Sulawesi. The penguin boys choices are Baruti, Chupa and Matata (the top two will be their names). The white lion females choices are Lemon, Makali and Wilhelmena (it doesnt say it but i think the top two will win) and the male's choices are Gobi, Fintan, and Moswen. We can vote now until the end of the month and the names will be announced August 2.

While the zoo's website states that the ring tailed lemur's name is Malcolm, the keepers call him Leroy.

The 3rd male bactrian camel born this summer is named Gomez, while the baby moose is named Saro (F).
 
Wonder why the keepers and the website's name for the little lemur arent the same? Maybe hes named after a donor or someone and they just think Leroy is a better fit. I wondered why they went with Malcolm when all the other lemurs names started with L.

Also I wonder why for the moose they have ended their tradition of naming the calf after a type of tree?

And other additions to the giant name list thanks to the naming contest.

I found a AZA document about the babirusa population and it appears our adult female is named Olive. Oddly it doesnt have our males name.

Ok in preperation for spring visiting season I'm going to try to revive this thread. I have gone through all of the zoos threads to help sort out a somewhat current list. I went on a field trip two years ago with kids and they loved having a list with the animals names. It really helped them bond with the animals. Much more personal when you know the gorillas are Charles, Josephine, Ngozi, Johari, Sadiki and Nassir then just the gorillas. Hopefully I'll be going again in the spring with another group and I'd love to hand them over a current list of the zoos animals. If anyone needs to be added let me know or removed. I know I still have the name of a baboon and a cheetah that have died but I just dont know who to delete. Ill go by location.

During the last Cheetah keeper talk I went to, the keeper said that there are 5 males and 5 females
I think they are:
F- Mya, Pinki, Zoey, Shamwari, Mahala
M- Luke, Onyx, Bomani, Rafiki, Zeke (or Zack- 1 of them died)
