Long time lurker, never much to say... before now.
I've shared this with a couple people here while I worked on it in June... then life and a dozen other projects piled up and got in the way of me putting finishing touches on it and publishing it here. I still haven't quite finished everything I wanted to (most notably, the functions to allow users to upload new photos), but hopefully if people start using the site it'll give me incentive to bump those things back to the top of my long to-do list. ;-)
Anyway, here's the website: Toronto Zoo Animals
In summary, the purpose of this is to be a single resource of information for anybody looking for information about the animals at the zoo. People can see pictures of the animals, names of the specific animals (that I have names for), join in celebrating animal birthdays (where I have exact days... did you remember Charles turns 37 in just over a week?), and stuff like that. Also, if you're actually AT the zoo and forget the name of an animal, there's a special portable site (Toronto Zoo Animals) that you can quickly call up from your cell phone or blackberry to look up the name (and corresponding pictures, where available). Because it's so much more fun to refer to the animals by name instead of "ooh, look at THAT one", plus it'll make you look smart around the other visitors. ;-)
Any input/comments/suggestions please let me know either in this thread, or on the forums on that site. Thanks for taking a look, and let me know what you think! (I like constructive criticism, it makes me a better web developer, so don't be afraid to say what you think)
