Ok, verbatim from a keeper's mouth from October 23rd's facebook live (5:00):
"Tilly is one of the reasons that we make sure now that we do not breed our camels over the winter time. Tilly was born March 1st in a snowstorm - she was a little bit of an unexpected baby. What happened is she was actually frozen to the ground and when her mom tried to kind of get her to stand up, her jaw stayed frozen to the ground and it broke."
This led to Tilly being hand-raised, and because the part of her jaw that broke has no teeth in it, her tongue 'falls' out of her mouth. Tilly is currently our oldest camel and she has never had any problems eating.
