Three Bennett's wallabies have arrived from the Riverview Park and Zoo a few months ago. Their nanes are Florence, Wallace, and The Machine.

Voting is now open for naming the cheetah cubs. The three possible sets of names are:
  • Toulouse, Berlioz, and Marie
  • Chester, Chip, and Cherry
  • Boots, Beans, and Blaze

Who thought naming the wallaby joey The Machine was a good idea? Hardly fits with Stevie, Darwin, Wallace and Florence.

Gotta agree with @Hyena, Ill go with Boots, Beans and Blaze but mostly because we just had a Chester. Little weird if Emarah has a littermate named Chester and a son with the same name. I would have liked to have the Flaming Hot Cheetahs get C named but they blew it. I get why they picked Chester. They just used it already so we need to pass.

The wallaby's name is a reference to the band Florence and The Machine, I think it's hilarious we have this tiny wallaby with a name like a pro wrestler lol

Nope sorry still think calling a wallaby The Machine is not their best idea. I know personal taste and its the keepers choice in the end.

I have little doubt there will be another naming contest pop up for the orang infant probably just before the exhibit opens so Sekali or Budi or both can be on hand to reveal his name on opening day.

They could call The Machine "Mac" for short at least.

Also, I'm torn between the first and third options for the cheetah babies' names, I love the perfect opportunity for a Disney reference, but the third set of names is so cute and includes a fitting name for a cheetah that's also the name of one of my favourite Sonic characters.

The plush crested jays have successfully reproduced again. Not sure if it's one or two chicks but two is likely. And I don't know what the situation is like in Americas and whether or not they are visible at the moment

Last time I visited a few weeks ago, they were on display, as well as the spectacled owls.

That's sad we are down to one chamois but also exciting because we have been waiting for that space to be freed up for some time.

That's too bad but not unsurprising given her age. I have my doubts that their exhibit will go to anything exciting, the Master Plan made it look like it was gonna be sacrificed so they can combine the camel exhibit with the future P-horse exhibit (currently home to the mouflon)

It will likely be some time before they get to the future P Horse exhibit though. The zoo still has a large mouflon herd thanks to adopting those rescues a few years back and any work on Canada will be probably a good 5 or more years away by the time they finally finish the new entrance. They could potentially bring in a new, possibly temporary species. Take on a few takin males. Start on the road to markhor with maybe a bachelor herd. They could also just combine the exhibits early and let the mouflon have full use of it. Or possibly use it to hold our young p horse stallions, Ryder and Colton if they cant chill with dear old dad Dudley. That would be a great improvement itself so they are easily visible year round with no extra charge. Lots of things they could do when the last chamois dies that wouldnt necessarily impede the long term plans.

It'll be interesting to see weather any new species are brought in to fill the Chamois exhibit, once it's empty. I'm inclined to think that they'll fill it with a species we already have.

I wonder if they might use that space for the markhor or takin once those arrive. Alternately, maybe my wish for Arabian oryx will come true and they'll put those there.

The zoo announced they actually hatched 3 plush crested jays recently and they have fledged over the last few days.
