:) Very happy and good news :D Any estimation as to when we can expect this new addition?

Just did a little digging in some of our former threads and came up with this info (This is all info from Ungulate, I just copied and pasted it into my reply so that I would'nt have to write it all out)

This is a list of giraffe born at TZ to Twiga and Ginetta (Who were born at TZ themselves) and sired by Stripes (Born at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo)

2006: 1.0 Shomari (Twiga) - to Parc Safari
2004: 1.0 Teeko (Twiga) - to Elmvale
(Ginetta had a stillborn in 2004 as well)
2003: 0.1 Aisha (Twiga) - to Parc Safari
2000: 1.0 Mowgli (Twiga) - to Toledo
2000: 0.1 Autumn (Ginetta) - to Mountain View
1998: 1.0 Janja (Twiga) - to Mountain View
1998: 0.1 Simama (Ginetta) - to Mountain View
(1996: Twiga had a problematic birth, I don't know the details)
1995: 1.0 Fupi (Ginetta) - to Winston, OR (eventually)

So, according to this info... Ginetta has had 4 calves (One stillborn) with Stripes and Twiga has had 6 (One DNS) with Stripes (Meaning Stripes has sired 10 calves (2 DNS) at TZ!)

It may as well be mentioned as well that soon after Teeko went to Elmvale Zoo... he passed away

Just a question, what was the name of the male before Stripes?

Thanks for the info! The name is in my head but I can't remember it!

Oh wow, he was very dark! I wonder if this is Ginetta and Twiga's father?

Alsooes anyone happen to know how Mya (cheetah) and her cubs are doing? They'd be a month or two old now so I'm guessing there at the main cheetah house. Do we happen to have genders and names confirmed?

Mya was moved to the AHU she was not doing to well but looks a lot better and the cubs are great!

Good to hear she's better, does this mean the cubs are being hand-raised?

No I don't think so, they cubs are very healthy and strong.

Glad to hear the cubs are good and strong and Mya is getting better :) Did she get some sort of respiratory infection? I know they're prone to them and other diseases :(

I honestly can't say Meaghan sorry. I really don't know!

Although this is unfortunately not happening right now at TZ, it may have something to do with Inukshuk the polar bear at TZ

Video: Quebec zoo reports two polar bear births - UPI.com

The reason why Inukshuk is involved in this is because since he was the last male at St Felicien, he is the father of these cubs (Meaning he is a proven breeder!)

Also, Aurora has been pregnant before (2004) but she miscarried... still, this means she is old enough to concieve!

Hopefully by next fall, TZ will have cubs (Maybe even from both females?)

I hope there is cubs in the future! I don't think that they will allow both bears to become pregnant at the same time because we only have space for 6 bears.

I'm very puzzled as to why the zoo doesn't appear to make a big deal out of most births. The snow leopard cubs got very little attention and the cheetah cubs last year got almost nothing and this year they haven't even been announced.

The snow leopards are adorable and when I'm at the zoo I tell random strangers to check them out because no one appears to know about the zoo's success! Where are the signs, where is the excitement? Don't babies attract more visitors?

The news I get from ZooChat makes me excited about the zoo - so thank you to everyone for their posts. I just wish the zoo itself would generate the excitement (and not just for the prize births like Nassir).

I agree with you to kknudsen. They should advertise the births more but remember that costs money. Money which they "claim" they don't have.

:D Great news :) hopefully we'll have many more exciting births for 2010 (any suspected pregnancies, confirmed pregnancies or planned breedings for 2010?)
