I just recieved the zoos "Newsprint" article, it has all the things happening at the zoo, I have gathered that the zoo is opening the Tundra Trek in the summer. It also said that in the next Collections Magazine it will have the member preview dates and opening dates. I guess the dates will be said in the May-June-July issue.

I have finally finished uploading my pictures everyone take a look at how much progress the Tundra Trek has undergone. Looking back at the early stages and comparing to now is something to see.

I have just looked at the photos you posted about a week ago so it will be interesting to see your new photos. Quartz.
Like most people I wonder how things are going to work out without a Foundation that has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars over the past years, they are loosing some good fundraisers. I wonder whether not having a Foundation changes the charitable status of the Zoo!!:)

In the staff newsletter that came out today, there was mention of the Tundra opening this August!

Great! I am now 100% more excited for summer! I guess the date isn't set hopefully I can go to the preview night, if my Calgary trip dosn't mess up the dates!

I just wanted to ask, I was told today that the undra is opening August 1st. Is this true?

Over the March Break I started blueprint for an African Expedition (Addition to the African Savanna) I have finally finished it, it is not to scale and I put some species in that I think would be a great addition to the zoo. It will be in the Toronto Zoo Gallery.

i am going to the zoo on monday or tuesday and was wondering if the polar bears or artic foxes are on exhibit somewhere else until the trek is done thanks.

No, the polar bears haven't even arrived yet and the arctic foxes are in quarantine

Zoogoer is right, however I wouldn't be surprised to see arctic wolves in their new exhibit as they could be in there soon. Can you take lots of pictures, pics of the Tundra Trek and post them? Thanks, even so you can see the arctic wolves in the Canadian Domain.

Tundra Trek Update!

I visited the zoo today for mainly photography. I have noticed a few things about the Tundra Trek. The polar bear and arctic wolf exhibits have be dirtified (dift has been laid in the exhibit, with - I assume - the accompiniament of sod), and some pavement has been laid. The reindeer exhibit has been flatened more.

Update on coral, the coral tank is now open. The exhibit has no live coral in it so I assume something went wrong or they re-did the layout.

Aussie Walkabout is getting new entrances.

The Americas marine room is still under construction.

I will post photos when I get a chance.

Thanks for the update. Wonder what was wrong with the coral, probably health problems. good to hear Aussie Walkabout is gettign new entrances, I wonder what there going to look like

Actually, I have a bit of news ( Might already be known). Someone told me the other day that the siberain tiger exhibit is being renovated with the addition of a pool in the maternity yard and more trees and topography in the big yard

I don't know about the trees but the pool is there now. Surprisingly enough the entrances look asian - western like.

The only new changes I've seen to the Amur Tiger exhibit is the barrier (that I suppose was made because of the SF incident). I think it'd be a great thing to see them in a renovated exhibit :)

I went to the zoo today and it is has a very impressive collection of animals but to me its a zoo of wasted space. 8 miles of walking but along the walk no exhibits. i dont understand who made the layout there is just no flow to the zoo.

When I was there, it was all the same. I didn't take shots (I forgot) but the polar bear's rockwork is a lot less blue, kinda bluey-grey, much more natural :)
