The cheetahs have been on exhibit. The construction is complete I guess because they do have access to the yards.

Ha anyone heard anything about the other Projects in the North Zoo Redevelopment?

Does anyone know if the marine room in the Americas Pavilion is finished construction yet?

Hi! I'm new to ZooChat!

Does anyone know if the marine room in the Americas Pavilion is finished construction yet?

I was just at the zoo today, and the marine room is still under construction. To me, it looked like there is still a lot of work to be done.

Welcome to ZooChat! I was also at the zoo today. They had a sign saying wet paint so I assume by the summer the exhibits should be up and running again.

Other new info:
The Marsupial Summer home is now being used, the zoo put extensions on the glass of the exhibit so the swamp wallibies and wombats can go outside.
The coral tank is up and running again and looks much "fuller" then before!
The cormerants are in the Australian Pavilion, you can here them outside the pavilion! There is two new birds in the pavilion the cormerants and another species?

The Tundra Trek is outstanding! It looks almost 100% complete! Im sure the animals will move in very soon! The major thing that are left is paving and the reindeer exhibit!

I will post pictures of everything later.

Hmm...I don't remember seeing that sign. I must have walked right past it. The Tundra is looking really nice. I saw what i think is going to be part of the Arctic Wolf exhibit, and it looks like the exhibit will be more photographer-friendly which I'm happy about because I have NEVER been able to get a good picture of them. I also saw the Victorian Crowned Piegons in a different peice of the Australaisa pavillion away from the water. What happened to all the swamp wallabies and Hamlet? When I was at their exhibit their was only one in the outdoor exhibit and none inside.

Hamlet and the swamp wallibies are still there u probably missed them, They probably went out when you went in! :)! If you have a picture of the (what you think is) the arctic wolf exhibit post it and I will tell you, if you have no picture then just explain it and I will be able to help!

That's probably what happened! I think I have a picture, I'm not sure. If I do, I'll have to figure out how to upload it

Darn, I don't have a clear picture of the exhibit. But what I think is the Arctic Wolf exhibit is right beside the America's resturant/Polar patio, and on the zoo map it showed the exhibit right beside the resturant. There was also a lot of rock work a little into the distance too, and on the map it showed a lot of rock work seperating the arctic wolf and snowy owl exhibit.

@Meaghan - I am almost 100% sure Hemlet is the wombat.

@Tapir26 - That is probably the arctic wolf exhibit. Right now its the only exhibit you can see good details on. The rest are to far in the distance to understand what the exhibits have.

I also purchased the new (2009) Official Feild Guide for the zoo.

Thanks, I thought it was the wombat as well. I got some pictures of that cutie in the gallery :) I think it's neat our zoo has wombats, I've never seen them elsewhere.

That is the nicest looking wolf exhibit I've ever seen, and I don't think it's even complete!

I found this little thing on YouTube, demonstrating the hydraulics in the polar bear housing:

Looks interesting, is it just me or do those doors look a little too small?

Hamlet is the wombat. Ya, the wolf exhibit was the only Tundra exhibit I could see from the America's resturant patio.
@Quartz: Did you see the baby kangaroo in the Aussie walkabout yesterday?

No, I didn't although I was trying to find the baby. Did you?

Ya. The joey and mom and another adult were sitting near the end of the walk. I'll see if I can post some photos I took of them. The keeper said that the joey was five months old and would probably remain in the pouch for another three months.
