I'm not sure if Chrissy's pregnant. But there was only one on exhibit, and Harrington and Chrissy are almost always on exhibit together. So she may be pregnant and just off-exhibit.
Actually, the keepers choose to block of the tree kangaroo exhibit if she is showing signs of pregnancy. That is why everytime one person goes its closed and then the next person and its open. Harrington is normally off exhibit. Chrisse is left on exhibit to stimulate a "natural" habitat during pregnancy.
@ Tapir when you were at the zoo on Saturday Chrisse was on exhibit.
Ungulate, do you know any potential plans for the African Savanna construction? My friend, (doing coop) told me that the pygmy hippos wont be breeding until the renos are done. Any info that you know?
Um ... what African Savanna construction? There are several projects waiting in the wings, but until the North Site is redeveloped (7 years, if we're lucky), I doubt anything will happen.
"We have been planning on breaking the exhibit down and addressing concerns that are apparent to us. The timing of this very large task is planned when the pavilion is to be revitalized and new exhibits constructed in this area of the building."
How'd you come across this Meaghan? The last time I was at the zoo, I said to myself, this exhibit is ugly! They should half the population and put a whole bunch of rocks in the exhibit!
I think I found it out just by doing a search for "Toronto Zoo forum." I always have such a hard time re-finding things after I find them
Yeah, I can definitely see a room for improvement in that aquarium. I don't know a lot about cichlids or fish in general, but I'd like to see vegetation and hiding places added.
Sounds like the goldfish in my backyard ponds, then I've seen the cichlids go after heads of lettuce that were dropped into their tank. Like little piranhas!
